I've kept track of money spent since I started vaping in July. I've spent way more than if I were smoking....I do have supplies to last me a few months now, some for a year. I've also just ordered a ProVari, which will be my last device, for quite a long time. When you guys started, was it way more expensive for you?

Yes....that's Fred. He's a Yellow Naped Amazon, and smarter than some people that I have encountered. LOL!

I seem to be looking for the perfect vape.....nice warm, full flavour. I think I'll get that with the ProVari. I've just ordered multiples of PG/VG and multiples of flavours. I probably should order more cartos soon. I just seem to be constantly ordering or stocking up on something....

It will take me around 140 days of vaping to "break even" with dollars spent on vaping compared with the dollar cost analogues; I was a PAD @ $7.00/pack. Do have enough "consumables" (juice, attys, cartos) to last about 4 months at my current rate of consumption. Also bought the Provari (really a quality product).

I started vaping in August. To me it was apparent from the get go that there was going to be an up-front investment in dollars required for me to successfully switch; was not wrong. So far switching is working for me.

Hard to measure the health benefits in terms of dollars - but long term has to be exponentially "cheaper" than analogues.

Rough calculations should have me breaking even in March. I smoked a half pack daily, as I had been working on cutting down for a long time.

It's hard to figure it out accurately, as I'm always stocking up on supplies, and am not certain how long they will last.

I can be happy to just break even, considering the health benefits, but it would be nice if vaping were less expensive than smoking.

I rate its really expensive when you start for everyone but when you finnaly find whats right for you thats when you start saving, but for some people that time never comes.I like to look at it like this "Its a Hobby" so its alright to spend some extra money on it,aslong as it keeps you off the analogs and gives you hours of fun.

Vaping has a very big learning curve for those who chase the perfect ecig.

My current devices are a Riva 510, and a Hello 016. They are fine, with the freshly charged battery, but it doesn't take long for the vape to get much less satisfying. I think my mistake in early days was needing the backup. I panicked a bit, when I had charger issues, had to go back to cigs, so I ordered a whole new kit. I will still need to use them however, as we like to boat, skidoo, fish etc. and I won't be comfortable taking the ProVari along where I can drop or lose it. I'm so hoping that with the ProVari I won't need to keep looking for a satisfying vape. In fact, I will commit to buying no more devices after this. Maybe when I just need to buy supplies, I'll start seeing savings....

It does have an up-front cost... but isn't too bad. I switched to vaping, quit smoking, and saved money in the long run. Then again, I don't buy tons of juice from high-priced vendors, nor do I own a provari. Both things are OK, but it would have taken me longer to recoup my costs.

I build my own 5 volt mods (similar to the MV kits) and DIY my juice to maximize my savings. So it depends.

I'm DIYing now too, as my two ventures into premixed was not a good experience. I do find that mixing my own, will be cost efficient for me.
I'm certain I can't build my own mods, although I am going to try a syringe tank, when I get the proper syringes...

I have to ask about your avatar???, as I've survived stage four Melanoma....

Hey SharonCC,

Depending on the long term life of the Provai - figure I can vape to my hearts content on $2.00/day. Have been DIYing my juice, made a syringe tank mod, in short have bee tinkering with juice and equipment. Was spending over $2500/year on analogues and was killing myself with the nasty habit.

Still a noob - lot to learn, will keep trying as long as vaping keeps me from smoking.

There is no perfect PV or setup for everyone because we are all so different in what makes us each most happy. The less cigs per day that someone smoked the more expensive vaping can seem, at least in the beginning. Not to mention what a difference the price one paid for their cigs makes in how much one can spend on vaping and still realize savings over smoking.

I live in a state that has a very high cost of cigs due to all the taxes added on by the state but I smoked for a relatively low cost, purchasing my smokes at the nearby Indian Reservation. I never broke even in my first year of vaping and spent more than I would have if I had continued to smoke. For me, I consider that fine because I spent my first year finding what vaping stuff I preferred. The fun of enjoying new stuff helped keep me from thinking of going back to cigs and I got to experience for myself different PV's and accessories so I know without a doubt what I prefer now because I've tried numerous different things. While doing all of that I managed to reduce my nic level and can honestly say that no matter what happens in the future I will never go back to smoking. I love vaping but if I was in a position to have to decide between smoking or NO vaping I could give up vaping and not return to smoking as long as I had some time to adjust to that change and I have enough supplies stock piled to allow me to do that.

Now that I'm in my second year of vaping I've given myself a vaping budget for the year. I am determined to stay within my budget for the year and in doing so I will see nice savings from my days of smoking. I allowed myself enough money to take care of essential supplies and enjoy a new toy once in a while because that makes vaping fun. I DIY most of my juice now-a-days but still allow myself to purchase some vendor juice for a few flavors I can't replicate myself besides its fun getting to try new flavors once in a while.

Ask me in eleven months if I've managed to stick to my new budget. lol

Not for me, way cheaper. I only spent 5 U.S. dollars every 4 days on tobacco to smoke. I'ts been over 6 months. Spent about 60 bucks for a 4 month supply of PG, VG Nic liquid, Atomizers and including a 35 dollar Riva SE e-cig kit. The PG and Vg from that will last me 2 years easily (16 oz bottles) That's 5 dollars 45 times I would have spent at 225 dollars. I bought a passthrough for 17 bucks and splurged on a 5 v mod for 25 dollars and after 4 months was up had to replace my nic liquid at 11 dollars but all in all its still cheaper than 225 dollars for tobacco and I spent less with loose tobacco than most people spend on cigarettes. I only buy now what I have to have and that amounts to pennies compared to 5 bucks every four days.

There is no reason using an e-cig cannot be maintained at a dirt cheap price. It's so cheap, a caveman can do it.
