You might not quit analogs immediately, it can be a process (and that's okay)

Hi all. Just wanted to share my experiences after being 4-5 weeks in on vaping.

I'd originally started vaping as a way to get off the analogs forever and save money. It has been an interesting journey so far what with trying two different e-cigs and some different juice combos but even though I'm not totally analog-free I don't regret it and can see positive changes.

I've done a lot of reading on these boards (love this forum!) and have read how many people were able to leave analogs in the dust soon after starting to vape. I just want to give moral support to those who aren't able to join that club. My progress has been more subtle but I do see definite changes and I consider this a very successful inroad.

I used to smoke a PAD, sometimes more. I didn't know if vaping would work, I was skeptical, but took the plunge. I am now at about two packs a week and I refuse to consider that a failure, especially since over the last few days (after I got my kgo; had started with the Elite) I have actually found myself preferring the kgo to the analog most times.

Ironically, one big reason I turned to vaping was financial; I couldn't afford to spend $200+ a month on analogs any more. Then last week I got a job offer that would actually allow me to buy analogs -- but I don't see a reason to! Will I eventually get to all-vaping? I hope so but I can't say right now; what I do know is that I have read many posts about vapers soon finding analogs to be distasteful, and that never happened to me until the past few days.

So hey newbies, if you don't fall into the category of being able to drop the analogs right away, don't beat yourself up. YMMV, everyone is different, and sometimes you do have to experiment a bit with hardware and juice (software, IMO) to find what works for you.

Just sharing. Hope this helps somebody!

Tru Dat
Every vape is one less analog, Life's too short to get hung up on how you compare to everyone else, whats working for you, keep, whats not loose. Simple as...

I am totally with you on this. I still smoke analogs, primarily in the mornings- I have 2 or 3 first thing. Then I'm good for the rest of the day. I had started vaping with the idea that it was for the purpose of being able to get my nic hit when I was in a situation where I couldn't smoke. I also wanted to cut down too- but never did I think I'd make the progress I've made. I don't feel guilty at all for still hanging on to the analogs. We all have our reasons for vaping and for smoking. And yes-- it is absolutley a process. In fact, I was explaining that to my husband last night.

The other reason I turned to vaping was for social reasons- we live in such a smoker hostile world, that it really stressed me out to have a cigarette in public. And of course, whenever I'd travel I'd get so stressed out about finding a smoking room at a hotel, or I'd have to sneak in smokes etc. I just wanted to get to the point where I could temporarily replace analogs with vaping in those situations, but ended up cutting back tremendously on the analogs and now I prefer vaping over it. But, I am still psychologically attached to my analogs and not ready to completely give them up.

So, thanks for starting this thread-- It feels good not to feel alone in this process.

Thank YOU for letting me know I'm not alone! I didn't think I was the only one... I had to take a long plane flight, 2 planes each way, last spring and it was horrible having to traipse 2 miles to the front doors to smoke (and I was on crutches), go back thru security, dragging my bag with me (no lockers anymore) -- frankly I think its cruel and discriminatory; methadone addicts don't have to go outside to get their fix, it's not like smokers do it just to annoy others. Anyway, thanks for the support. We gotta be there for each other.

I got my best friend started with e-cigs last week (about this time of day last Sunday, actually). I set him up with different batteries, atties, carts, cartos and liquids with different mixes and mg. With telling him how much I care and want him to live to see his little girl get older, I encouraged him to keep smoking analogs through his transition to vaping. I went to hang with him yesterday and it was his 1st day without "The Morning Cig"-that mandatory one lol. He lit his 1st cigarette of the day at 1:00pm! He's getting there. I think he's already brain-storming mods n stuff, too, so I'm sure he's getting the jones for vapor lol. I'm proud of him! I think the "Quit Cold Turkey" propaganda is absolute BS. I went from a PaD to 1/4 PaD in my 1st week of vaping, and that is a helluva improvement after 25 years of burning tobacco! It takes everyone their own time to quit. Thank God vaping is here to ease the transition!

Good luck and happy vaping to all new member who read this! Your lungs and loved ones love you more for your choice!

ABSOLUTELY!!! Plus, being a member of ECF really helps to keep your enthusiasm up for vaping and I treat it like my support group, LOL. There are those days when I feel down and I come online to this forum to get myself back on track. It's nice to have that in my life at this stage. It feels good not to be judged and to be accepted for who we are and what we're going through, especially as newbies ;-)

I'm right there with this. I was a 1-2 PAD person in February of this year. Now, I'm a 2-3 PAW(week) person. If I ever find my all day juice, it probably be much less. I agree that the morning stinky is the toughest one to dump.
As an aside, I was in a casino on Saturday vapeing away in the smoking section. The woman next to me asked me not to smoke and I told her that I was not. She threw little hissy fit and I calmed her down by actually showing her my eGo broken down and explained how it worked.
After she calmed down, I asked her why she was in the smoking section if she hated smoke. Her answer was that there were better machines there. I didn't agree since I was losing!

Great post! I've also been having 1-2 a day, which I feel a bit guilty about even though I know I shouldn't! One thing I do now is to try not to smoke them mindlessly. I really concentrate on the cigarette while I'm smoking it. I ask myself: does it taste good, is this satisfying me? etc. Most of the time after I have a cig now I don't feel super satisfied and think I would have been fine vaping instead. It takes a bit of time to transition for some people but I don't think thats such a bad thing :)

Excellent post! I started vaping a month ago and have slowly weened myself off of analogs. Yesterday I had one and today it looks like I will be smoke free for the first time in over two decades. Best advice I can offer to anyone on this path is to ask questions here on ECF and explore the options available to you. You will find the right combo to get you off the cancer sticks.

Good to hear others experience. I smoked 2 PAD Marlboro for close to 40 years . Bought cheap kits that was a cigarette look a like and siad to myself "hey this is not bad" but then had battery problems within days and ordered an ego tank kit.
Have not had a analog since then and my nicotine fix is fixed !
