Never jump straight into Mechanical Mods. Start with the basics(ego/vision style batteries) You will gradually move up in time to learn what variable voltage and variable wattage are. Never jump straight into dual or quad coil builds. Start simple with Clearomizers(eg: Evods, BCC, iClear tanks, Protanks) Know your batteries and know their "limits". Learn Ohm's Law because it can save you from doing something randomly stupid. YouTube is your gateway to learning a lot when graduating from the basics. Like others have mentioned, drink plenty of water because vaping will dry your mouth and can lead to dehydration. ECF will properly guide you if you're patient enough to learn. Lastly be safe, use common sense and enjoy.

My most common advice to people considering vaping is
1. Vaping is not smoking - nicotine takes slightly longer to be absorbed and there are no eliquids that taste exactly like "insert preferred brand here" cigarettes so try non-tobacco flavors
2. Plan on cutting down on your nic levels slowly and eventually you will find yourself leaving the house with out your ecig and not panicking 2 blocks later
3. Backups for your backups - Figure out what you spent on cigarettes in a month (1 PAD @ $5 = $150) a spare ego battery and clearo is under $40 at even the most expensive site or store
4. Don't be ashamed of vaping and don't let uneducated people try to scare you away from vaping (there is a large amount of negative press with vaping happening right now) - BUT do not blatantly vape in areas in which smoking is not allowed (most bars in my area will allow vaping if you ask nicely (smoking is not allowed in any indoor business)) - if they say no, don't argue, just take your business somewhere else or go to the smoking area and try to convert the smokers out there to vaping.
5. If you have any questions, ASK a group of vapers (ie: here in the ECF) and organize the answers you get and go with the common consensus (with a grain of salt - RBA's, RDA's, Mechanicals are all advanced devices and should only be used after you understand all the battery safety requirements - subohm cloud chasing should only be done in the privacy of your own home, cloud chasing will scare uneducated nonvapers out in public)

sorry I went over your 1 answer request

best advice for newbies?

make sure you dont light the wrong end

seriously though if you're going to choose a juice solely on somebody else's recommendation then use the "bestsellers" sorting on the juice vendors site to see what people are actually buying

otherwise, dont waste your time/money taking juice blind recommendations from others and expecting magic to happen. the only time a peer review is helpful is if you're looking for an alternative brand of the same taste within the scope of a simple flavor name

Don't be afraid to use a high mg nicotine content. Go as high as you need to stop an analog relapse. Worry about mg content later...much later when smoking is far behind you. I feel many relapse because they are not giving their brains and bodies the nicotine they crave when they stop smoking....and remember its not a race. enjoy and be proud each day

Hi, Welcome to ECF! Just like everything in life you need walk before you run! Take your time ask questions, see what people who vape use. Go to your local B&M and poke around. Gather all your intel and should be able get off on the right foot. I have read all of the above posts and every one gave you great insight into what you need to do. I have been vaping now for over a year and I seem to learn something new every day. I believe I had made fewer mistakes and most important gotten more for my money. That's my:2c:
