Is that the one who used my pic??? I saw a post on FB with an MFA for sale on an auction site. I thought...hmmm, a guy with a pinkish DT and pink polka dotted background.....wait! That is MY pic and MY MFA!!!!! I told him of course and he said he googled for a good pic of and MFA and that was what came up.
I said that I was flattered that it was considered a good pic, but I'm not sellin' mine and he should have a pic of HIS, the one that HE is SELLING!! My pic is still on FB, but he has changed the pic in the listing...LOL.

That's just crap.
And it pisses me off.

Not everything available is "public domain", and just because it's there doesn't give a person the right to use it.
This is a MAJOR sore spot with me.
I do a weekly image search for our business' copyrighted images.
These are MINE, and yeah, I'm greedy about it.
1. I hang the thing up, take the picture, edit the picture to cut the item out and paste it on a different background.
2. It gives the site a uniform look, and associates our brand with our website and products.
3. I don't want them just anywhere. It's obvious where they came from, and I don't want them to reflect poorly on our customer service.

I can't tell you how many times I have run across businesses, not just individuals, but "professionals" using our images.
The hubby hates the little watermark I put on them, and we have even had customers ask where the "hooks" are that are shown in the image but aren't in the package.....
But Digimark doesn't work as well as an obvious watermark, in my opinion.

I'm not saying everyone watermark their PV pictures, but others shouldn't steal them either.

You were a LOT nicer than I would have been.
"Hello, we have noticed that you are selling product X, and we wish you luck with that. However, you are using our copyrighted images to do such. We do not allow others to use our copyrighted media, including but not limited to, images, text, sound files, etc.
Most manufacturers provide stock media.
Please remove our copyrighted material."

I must mention copyright about 8 thousand times.... but these are supposedly professionals running online "big name" stores.
And I get that "I Googled for an image and this popped up."
Yeah, it did. Because we've been online for years! Take your own pics!

end rant
