So in the past, I've had major difficulties with temptation. Since I started vaping in November 2010, I've slipped 4 times. Four separate trips to the store, four packs bought, four packs smoked. Never back-to-back, never smoked a pack in less than a week (formerly PAD).

My triggers were (generally) alcohol consumption, and forgetting my PV/running out of battery--accounting for 1/2 of my slips, and all of them since I moved back to a stable living situation. I have NOT slipped in 2 months. Not a single cigarette.

Couple weekends ago, I loaded up the box mod and went to a neighborhood party. Lots of beer, couple smokers. But I held to my guns, kept the PV in my hand, and actually promoted it to a few people (having decent luck in the neighborhood actually). Very little temptation at all. I was golden.

This morning I was running behind a bit -- forgot my charger and spare 3.7v 900mAh battery for my box mod. As my eGo PT just melted (yes, melted.. Funny thread in General Forum about it), I had NO BACKUP whatsoever.

I made it from 7am to 6pm on a single 3.7v battery (it had even been used the night before). I calmly told myself when I got to work and realized my predicament, that cigarettes would NOT help me at all. I believe it. If my battery had died at noon, I am positive I would have been okay. My mind never went to "go to the gas station JUST IN CASE" .. in fact, when I thought about that, I got a bad taste in my mouth (literally!!). I crave my PV. I crave my juice. I crave vapor.

I don't need cigarettes.

If I forget my PV, or my battery dies, or I'm somehow, someway, without any vape at all... I don't have to worry about it.

What a great feeling!!!

Thanks guys! :)

I've heard people say that vaping is "more addictive" .. but I just can't see it. (Is this due to non-chain-smokers becoming chain-vapers?)

How many of us left home forgetting our cigarettes/lighter (I seem to recall them being in my hand 90% of the time!)?
How many of us would not go to the store when we were out of smokes (or down to 3-5)?

I definitely depended on my PV 100% of the time after I quit. Absolutely without question. For the first few months. But I realized today ...

I am a non-smoker. There is nothing that is going to make me WANT a cigarette again.

I am now able to draw a definitive line between the satisfaction I get from using my PV, and what I used to derive from smoking. Definitely different things -- but one has replaced the other. And even the PV -- I can now live without that. I can actually SEE myself putting it down some day (but not any time soon!).

Strange though, since I started at 18mg, moved down to 12mg after 2 months, and down again to 6mg after 2 more months. Now I vape 12mg (with a handful of 8mg). Yep I UPPED my nic. Because of those 4 packs of cigarettes I bought in the first 5 months.

Seems to have worked for me though!

These things are great. They kept me off the reals from day dot. Well, except I was working with my mate on friday who offered me a cig. I smoked it, but it didn't make me want to go and buy a pack and I prefer my e-ciggy.
Can't see myself going back to the reals and I was a real die hard smoker.
I tried patches, gum - you name it, but these are the only things that have kept me away from real smokes....

thank you for sharing your story! btw i wanted to add some helpful things ive been thinking of

i stopped thinking in terms of real smokes vs my vape..

real smokes simply aren't my brand, i simply smoke a different brand. my brand makes no ash, doesnt cause me to tire out, gives me all the nicotine i want, in any flavor i want, at push button convenience.

and my brand improves the smell in the room.

I've heard people say that vaping is "more addictive" .. but I just can't see it.
All of the anecdotal evidence we have seen here shows clearly that nicotine outside of tobacco is less addictive.

There are so many people who are able to drop their nicotine levels quickly and easily.
There are so many people who are able to go longer periods of time without vaping.

This all makes perfect sense when you consider this...

Nicotine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Technically, nicotine is not significantly addictive, as nicotine administered alone does not produce significant reinforcing properties. However, after coadministration with an MAOI, such as those found in tobacco, nicotine produces significant behavioral sensitization, a measure of addiction potential.
