Scotty,
I received the zfm a few days ago - just got around to trying it out. I'm using the smaller hole end cap (2 1/2 mm) and it's working wonderfully. My straw length is about 13mm though, a little shorter than the 15 you recommended. The plug popped out when I took the cartridge out at 15. Now it's working like a charm. And it's really easy to re-fill!

I can see this being developed further - perhaps a cartridge that already has that ridge in place and caps that "snap" in. Great idea Scotty. I've now found my cartridge "non"filler of choice.

Cheers!

Glad you like them! Further development is tricky do to all the attys being all over the place as far as bridge hight... example 13mm works for you but not for others.. so If I invested $10k into a new cart design its not going to work for everyone.. with the straw you can set it where you want .... now if there was some decent QC with our attys it would not be a problem... I'm sure we will get there just not sure when..;)

Nice, very nice. I got my 2 pack today consisting of small & large holes and the H-Plugs. So far so good with the H-Plugs (haven't tried the others yet).

My first two attempts to get the required straw length failed miserably: gurgling, flooding, etc. So I reviewed the straw length as posted by SB in the first posting of the thread: 15 mm (1.5 cm). This length works like a charm on 3 of my 510 attys.

This is by far the best cart mod I have used to date. Worth the money!

Excellent flavour and very good th. Thanks SB for this great mod.

Well, I read 99% of this thread...that's one long thread.

So I decided to give this a try for my 510's, it took a few hours making five of them.

This is what I used and have found out about this mod:

This plug vapes pretty good.

I used a Silicone Trivet and cut the shape and and put a hole in it.

I think the plastic straw creates too much surface tension so I used the coffee filter screen(since I had it from my 901 mod) to use as a straw, this seems to work better.

The height/length of the straw depends on the size of the hole, small hole shorter straw large hole longer straw.

I like this plug and would like to thank the two people I feel are most responsible for how it has evolved, first Scottyballs for the original idea of using the thin silicone cap and Ego for coming up with the idea of making a plug using the Amazing Mold Putty that Scottballs now uses.

So now I bought two hole punchs 5/16" and 1/8" I'll be poping these babies out of the Silicone Trivet like nothing.

Yeah ... they're good ... too good.

I just placed another order, this time for the 901s I haven't even received yet, but the 501 H-cuts have me so spoiled I wanted to have some ZFMs ready to use when the new attys & carts arrive.

Wowzers ... those H-cuts rock! :D

Michael

On the way Micheal... Btw I'm using 510 carts on my 901 attys you could have just used your 510 carts.. personally I like the 510's better.. oh and look at the bridge of your 901's I have some from totally wicked that are low bridge the only thing there good for is driping...

Perhaps selling the atomizer/cart mod as a set? That way the atomizer height would be guaranteed to be consistent.

Just a thought. This is a GREAT design, man. Precisely what I've been looking for. Keep up the good work!

I just cant seem to get it right, I have tried everything length possible and I cant figure out what im doing wrong. No matter the length of the straw I get a nasty taste and I cant seem to get rid of it. It seems to do it more on the H cut then the holes, it worked great the first day and I switch straws same length(not sure why) and it started, even tried other attys. Any advice on what i might be doing wrong would be grateful!!

I've found that over-filling and/or drawing to hard/fast will flood the atty & get juice in my mouth.. If I practice patience (which doesn't come naturally to me) when I first fill it, it vapes like crazy.

This is the only way I've been using the 510 atty & carts & will adapt to 901s as soon as I get the proper size ZFMs. If I encounter a problem with the latter (whistle tips) I'll post back.

So far, I'm very pleased with the results (ergo, the second order)

Right on, SailCat...
I've been using the H-cut this morning and have been getting great results. The only downside being when I'm out and about (like for example, yesterday while driving in my truck) the H-cut flooded, so I ended up going with a regular filler I had on hand.

Perhaps keeping the ZFM for when I'm at home and can easily change it over. Perhaps I just need more practice getting the height/spacing right. My goal would be to be able to make a few to take with me so I can just pop them on when I need a new one.

Again, great mod - works wonderfully when I get everything in it's place.

Think I might try putting down a large 0-ring underneath the H-cut next time.

It's getting better all the time...

I just inquired about if they adapt to whistle tips on his site. He's showing the round tips. If it works I'll order some.

:)

He said the whistle tips are the same internally as the round ones. I went ahead and ordered the premade carts for the 510 night before last. I asked during ordering if I could request whistle tips and asked the same on his forum after I orderd but haven't heard anything back yet. I get the idea he's out of town because he usually answers right back.
