So I'm planning to buy a new mod soon and decided to try the latest tech. Searching the market for a variable watt model around $100 or so, these are what I've found available.

Since it's my first purchase of this type I have no reference for deciding. Figured I would ask here since I'm certain to receive some advice from the experienced.

So what do you all recommend? These are the only ones I've seen in the price range I'm looking at....are there another brand or model I should consider?

Vamo. It can do everything a Zmax can do, with better quality machining, and considerably cheaper.

Zmax: my buddy babies his PVs and his is already misfiring and the plastic LED window pops out and jiggles a lot.

eVic: Waaaaaaaaaaaay too many useless bells and whistles. If you're into the firmware and tracking idea, cool. But in my opinion, too many fancy wingdings mean too many things that could go wrong.

Not sure of which Vision you're referring to.

Vmax is built in poor quality I have one it get awesome power but the paint chips off....I have a zmax which is the upgraded version. It is awesome it does everything the vmax does and more! it's great in quality too, I got mine from Vapor kings for about 100$, of course you'll need batteries and a charger. It also come with a 6 month manufacturer warranty.

I have both the Zmax (v2, SS) and the Vamo (v2, SS), and if I set both to the same wattage and vape the same atomizer on both, the experience is so close to the same I can't tell the difference. I do much prefer the Vamo's 3-button interface to the Zmax, and I also like that the Vamo doesn't waste battery power lighting up the button or screen while I'm vaping. I'm running both in stacked 18350 mode, and I keep a very detailed battery spreadsheet (a must for stacking, IMHO) ... the Zmax gets slightly better battery life, but not enough to make a discernible difference.

You do know that with the Zmax you have the option to turn off that "annoying power hungry LED" under menu 6 right?
I get a hair over 24 hours use out of an EH IMR 2000mAh battery with it on...

i am glad i saw this thread, as i was going to start a smiliar one!
I believe ill go with the Vamo, it will be my first mod.
the price and 3 button menu is the biggest reason. I saw, although i am not sure it is still avail, a $60 kit complete with 2 batteries, a vivi nova, and a jwrap. I did not see it comes with a charger...
What is the ideal battery set up, and how much would it cost including a charger? (this way i can order the body seperate)

I wouldn't say the Vamo has better quality machining than a Zmax. I have two Zmaxs and two Vamos. The Zmax is definitely built a bit better. I would agree that Vamo can do everything the Zmax does. The Vamo screen is automatically off when firing, and only comes on if you push the small menu buttons. The Zmax menu led can be turned off.
I prefer the Vamo menu system - much easier to use. Also the benefit of being able to use full or shorty size.
The Zmax looks nicer, is lighter but still sturdy, and is shorter in full size mode than the Vamo.

Loving the Evic with the new firmware. It has relegated my Provari Mini to back up status.

Don't care at all for the slippery silver 18650 tube. Much better for me with the black 18350 tube.

Yes, it has some useless bells and whistles like the puff counter. But it also has some very useful features such as stepped power that is just dynamite particularly with genesis atty's. Hell, I'm even liking the auto drag feature. Takes some getting use to, but once it becomes second nature, is pretty cool.

Already, tube and top cap options are becoming available both from Joye, and modders. Ingenious design making the head such that customization is easy.

I have both the Vamo and the Evic and love them both. The vamo is my take with me outdoors pv the Evic i use most other times. The upgradable firmware is nice they have made more features avail and will prolly make more. I think they purposely disabled it at first sop that they could make more sales down the road. Just my .02
