Arizona legislators pass SB 1209, banning sales of e-cigarettes to minors

Despite the American Cancer Society and other organizations urging legislators not to enact a ban on the sale of "vapor products" to minors (yes, you read that right), at the end of last week the Arizona House passed SB 1209 by a vote of 44-12-2. It now goes before Gov. Brewer for her signature.

This is an RJ Reynolds bill, but there is nothing in the bill to oppose. It does not define e-cigarettes as a "tobacco product."

Excellent news.

And many thanks for exposing the letter by ACS/AHA/ALA, which has been falsely accusing (since 2009) e-cigarette companies of target marketing to youth (when lobbying for sales bans by FDA and state legislatures), and yet has opposed legislative proposals in at least seven different states states (UT, NY, IL in 2009/10 and OK, RI, AZ, OH in 2012) to ban e-cigarette sales to minors.
