Anything can be dangerous if not used properly. I've been using the original unprotected batteries with my Protege for a long time now, with no problems. I don't over charge, over use, or abuse them.

Naturally, protected may be better, but the end user has to be responsible, in any case.

Protected batteries are a bit different in size. Make sure they will fit in any device you plan on putting them in.

this model uses...li-ion 14500 3.7v 900 mah...unprotected. a battery supplier said unprotected is dangerous.
they recommended a higher mah ratiing with the same 3.7 volt output but protected.
it seems a good idea to raise the mah & ues a protected model....is this a good idea ???:confused:

Agree with JD on protected/unprotected. But...

Which higher mAh rated batt does the battery supplier recommend?
