How does that work? Is it to cure symptoms of od like indigestion???

Nicotine causes heartburn by weakening the esophigal sphincter (hee, hee I said sphincter). I'm not sure whether that is caused by contact, or through the blood. If that is done through contact, ie nicotine deposited on the lining of the esophogas from the vapor, then I could see soda washing that surface nicotine off.

But more likely it just lets you relieve the heartburn via a belch.

And it washes off the nicotine aftertaste in the mouth too, which is also nice.
