I'm going to be placing a supply order shortly, and I'm curious about plastic pipettes. I've been looking at the 3ml pipettes at Wizard Labs to use for extracting flavorings. I assume the type of plastic they are made from isn't a concern, as they're not being used for long term storage -not that they could be. I'll be using glass and LDPE plastic bottles for stored liquids. However, I would like to know if these pipettes can be reused; despite the fact they are marketed as disposable, and are dirt cheap; so dirt cheap that it's almost embarrassing even asking this question, but what can I say, I'm a penny pincher.
If I were to thoroughly wash and rinse the pipettes, possibly using alcohol as well, would I be safe from cross contamination of flavorings? The information I've read here seems to point toward "yes," but I wouldn't mind getting some up to date feedback from experienced DIY'ers.
Also, just out of curiosity, does anyone know what type of plastic these things are typically made from? I've seen them on other sites listed as LDPE, but I'm curious if this varies from supplier to supplier or if LDPE is the standard? There's no information about this on Wizard Labs' site -that I could find. I planned to contact them about this, again, just out of curiosity, but I figured I'd first put it to the vets here.
Appreciate any input. Thanks!
