Single or Dual Coil?

My first cartotanks came with dual coil cartos. I just assumed that was all they could use. But I often noted that they would develop a burnt taste. Then I read that people were using single coil cartomizers in their tanks, and decided to try them.

I got the same amount of vapor, a slightly better flavor and a smoother vape, longer battery life, and no more burnt taste. I haven't used a dual coil cartomizer since.

I think what was happening is once a cartotank is set up, the upper half of the filler material becomes dry from the suction created by vaping. The juice is pulled down to the bottom of the carto where the bottom coil is.

This can leave the second coil, which is about in the middle of the carto tube, with not enough liquid to vaporize so it can burn the wicking sock that surrounds it. This could lead to the burnt taste that I was experiencing with dual coils. The below diagram with the arrows showing both air flow and juice flow helps demonstrate my theory.
