Theory behind a bottom-feed design

What is the theory behind a bottom-feed e-cig design that makes them superior to a top-feed?

I see some that you squeeze and even one with an electric pump to feed the liquid. One thing unclear to me is how the design keeps the atomizer from flooding with liquid supply.

So what do they do differently afterall, and are they really "superior"?

Nothing really makes bottom feed mods superior. It's the same as dripping but from below.

It's more a matter of the convenience of a fully self contained device.

As for flooding, nothing prevents that. You get a feel for how much to squeeze the bottle and when. I only flood my atty sometimes when my battery needs to be swapped out thinking I need more juice.
