Vector Magic is great for this. It's all auto but doesnt handle gradients. Ofcourse for something like this all you would need to do is import the .eps file into Illustrator and give the "V" its appropriate gradient.
Don't forget that a .pdf is not quite a vector file. All though its a great format for maintaining image quality you might want to give Steve the .eps (more universal) or .ai file (Adobe Illustrator file) as well depending on the needs of the etcher.
I would've helped out but my monitor is broken right now and I can only see parts of my screen. Its crazy annoying and happened at a bad time (Christmas). Good thing I am using a 5 yr old monitor right now and planned on switching to 22" dual monitors soon anyway.
