that's what i thought. my real concern was the quality of the vape and vape time on my daily single 18650 mod if i go dual coils. i don't like bringing along extra batteries.

maybe a dual 18650 mod would help with the vape time if i go dual coil.
Dual battery does improve vape time but maybe not as much as you think, most dual battery devices are series not parallel.

Series improves battery life because stepdown (bucking) is more efficient, but the actual mah is the same as a single battery.

so it doesn't really matter series or parallel in a regulated box.

so my question now is, if i want to run a dual coil setup but not run it at high wattages.

1. would dual coils be possible with only 40-50 watts?
2. would it be possible to get a decent vape of running it at low wattages?
3. would dual coils also need a dual 18650 mod?

It can matter depending on how you vape, mostly what resistance.

On a series device it's generally bucking voltage the whole time, better battery life.

On a parallel it may be boosting depending on resistance and battery level which hinders battery life but you have double mAh.

Toss up, both work fine.

1.) Depends on coil mass, I vape dual 28g SS430 coils at 30 to 40 watts (with temperature control) all the time..looks like I'm vaping at a much higher wattage because vapor production is great.

2.) I don't understand the question, running what at low wattage? I guess you mean claptons, depends on what you consider low and once again coil mass.

3.) No, you can vape dual coil on a single battery device.

at what resistance do you run on them on 30-40 watts with tc?

what about on power mode (kanthal wire)? how do i build a dual coil setup that will run on 30-40 watts?
