What I wish I'd Known before I Spent so much Money: cut to chase when you first start Vaping and save big bucks

This blog is intended to help my fellow vapors as they begin their vaping journey & it really is a journey.

I quit smoking after 30 years of a pack of cigarettes a day (real cigs are referred to as "Analogs" on the web). So here's my advice after a year of vaping & one year of NOT SMOKING!

1). Ask yourself why you began or why you want to start vaping! This helps you develop a path and spend your money wisely as you go rather than using the old trial & error method. (If you're rich, the MONEY may not matter as much as the TIME involved in making one mistake after another. And we all do.)

Do you simply want Vaping as a hobby and social affair? Are you just wanting to show off and blow giant clouds of vapor at your buddies? Or do you want to quit smoking those nasty, expensive tobacco cigarettes? How bad is your nicotine habit? How long have you smoked & how badly do you want to quit? There is some willpower needed but perhaps not nearly as much as you might think. I cheated a little for the first two weeks, but then I got strong and haven't smoked a cigarette since.

2). In my opinion, for any of the above scenarios, those little cheap batteries, small gadgets that look like a real cig and $2 cartos are NOT GOING TO CUT IT. They might work on someone who's only smoked a few years, but long time, hard core smokers and you cloud chaser dudes will never be satisfied with those baby toys. So don't waste your money. Invest it instead in something you'll like right off the bat.

No offense intended toward e-cig salesmen, but they might start out suggesting a smaller, cheaper version knowing full well you'll keep buying bigger and better until you're finally satisfied. I went through that for months. No telling how much money I wasted in the beginning. Beware buying off eBay guys because they may be trying to recoup the money THEY wasted in the beginning. Also, and don't be shocked, but some of those on line vape stores are NOT COMPLETELY HONEST. Go with one that has a great reputation.

3). I researched on line for weeks, months actually reading about safety of e-juice ingredients, drippers, sub ohming, rebuildables, mechanical mods, variable voltage/wattage mods, battery safety, tanks, cartomizers, and on and on and on. LITERALLY!!!!! Every time something new came out, I'd buy it (for just a little more taste, or hit, or more super cool factor). Don't fall into this endless money pit. Buy what you need up front without all the experimentation.

4). Much progress has been made in the Vaping industry, so here's my bottom line:

Buy only USA made e-juice. If you're worried about safe ingredients, buy juice from Virgin Vapor Organic. Mt Baker Vapor is really cheap. I like their Vanilla Butternut. Or just buy at your local vape shop & ask for locally made juice.

Don't buy an e-cig that has a built in battery. You'll have to throw the whole thing in the trash when the battery dies. Get one with rechargeable batteries and use them in rotation.

If you get a mechanical mod, make sure you like the firing button and can sit it down on a table without it accidentally firing. Plan to spend $80 to $100 for a good one. You can live with only 1 mod. And wether it be Variable Voltage or mechanical, just make sure you buy good quality rechargeable batteries. Make sure there are air vents in case your battery gets hot.
Buy either one good variable mod or a mechanical mod (or have one of each if you want more variety).

Rebuildables are too much trouble. We have a LIFE outside of Vaping, right?!!

Buy an Aspire Nautilus tank for a variable voltage mod, or better yet, get an Aspire Atlantic sub ohm tank and put it on a mechanical mod. Just buy coils for these & never have to worry about rebuilding or getting caught with nothing ready to vape on. These tanks hold plenty of juice and cost around $30 bucks. They give you taste, clouds of vapor and satisfy those nicotine cravings. Believe me when I tell you I've bought many tanks and always came back to my Nautilus. Now that Aspire has come out with the Atlantic, we have a great option for sub ohming without having to rebuild coils, and the Atlantic coils last a month or more.

Drippers are a lot of trouble and they always make a mess. You don't need a Dripper unless you do it for a hobby or cloud chasing contest.

My current setup, and I could do with much less, but I just love Vaping.

Provari with a Nautilus on top.
Locally made mechanical mod with an Atlantic tank on top. And when I'm in my recliner, relaxing and watching TV, sometimes I'll pull out my Dripper and put it on my mech mod.
I have a good 2 bay battery charger so I always have fresh batteries and I keep lots of USA made juice at my side so I'm always ready.

Think quality not quantity. Happy Vaping!
