Vaping in public

I think I might be the bad guy with some of these comments but they're are my opinion.

I hear all these stories of new vapers (and old) pushing the social limits of using PV's in public. It can be rather annoying considering we are trying to gain public support for their use and the situation is a bit precarious. My general rule of thumb is: If I couldn't smoke in this situation (socially) then I'm not going to vape (blatantly that is). Restaurants, hospitals, supermarkets, grocery stores, theaters, church, etc are all examples of where you would not smoke normally. I stealth vape places, but I don't openly use my PV in these places where it has the potential of creating a scene.

I think many people are looking for that confrontational moment where they can be confronted for smoking then tell the person confronting them, "but it's not a cigarette". This has very little to do with the fact that you are pushing something they aren't comfortable into their space. Even though PV's are better and there is no second hand smoke- some people just don't like it.

Please respect your surroundings and the people in it. Don't vape for a confrontation or for shock value either.

I agree 100%. I definitely don't want too many weird stares and complaints, I am a nonconfrontational person. I also agree 110% that the situation on Ecigs is very precarious. It could tip against us at any moment and that would just be BAD. Where I live is considered the Bible Belt, and people are very old fashioned here. I know I am not going to be pushing it, all it takes is a few people that are hell bent on getting people to accept it to get it banned. All we need to do is just avoid confrontations, and not spark the public to take some kind of drastic action on something they don't understand.

I live in a huge tobacco area, the southwest region of Virginia. here is considered the bible belt as well, but all the preachers smoke, lol. im still new to vaping in public, but so far its winning people over everywhere. i agree that u should be discrete when necessary, but we shouldnt have to go to 'all' the old extremes of analogs. maybe its just the laid back nature of the people here? either way, im loving my new PV and using it most everywhere.
