Kind of disappointed with my B&M store right now...

Alright folks, it's story time. Settle in, grab your drinks and your APVs.

So, I have a brick and mortar store here that has 3 different locations. I'm not going to use their name just because, why? But anyway, They have sold my brother an iClear X-1 tank. The tank came with a 1.5 ohm, 1.8 ohm and 2.1 ohm atty. They were all rather bad and even after rewicking, they just weren't that great. I chalked it up to being DOA and decided to get him some new ones. I went in the first time (without the tank or an atty) and asked for some replacements. They gave me a box of iClear 16B attys. I get home, and they didn't fit. I'm not sure why they didn't know what atty fit in the tank, so I was a little upset, and my brother just used my backup Phoenix Raven tank for the day.

Fast forward to next day...

I go in to let them know they gave me the wrong attys (this time with the tank and an atty for reference). The person behind the counter tells me they work. I tell him that I'm getting no reading on ohms with them, so NO, they in fact, DON'T. He tries it out and realizes he's wrong, and goes to the back and tries to find attys for the X-1. This takes a while and I look around the shop at some new stuff. He comes back and says "Well, we don't have X-1 attys."

:?:

Are you kidding me? You sell a tank that was HIGHLY recommended by your shop personnel and you don't carry backup parts for it. At all?

No. Not right now. We don't have any.

"Well, I read that the 30B iClear attys will work for the X-1. Do you have any of those?"

"I don't think that's going to work"

"Will you just grab one and humor me, please? Either that or you can take this tank, and this box of attys, and you can just hand me a Kanger Aerotank right now." I was a little more than irritated at this point.

He grabs a 30B, puts it in and surprise surprise, it works! (And this is after talking to 3 other shop workers, calling someone they call "Momma" which I'm sure is the lady I know as Aleisha, and scratching their heads for about 10 minutes) So I take the box of 30Bs home (which they only had in 1.5 ohms!) and out of that box, 2 of them were DOA.

I'm urging him to just call it quits on the tank and grab a Kanger so he wouldn't have to worry about getting replacement attys. This B&M store has tons of Kanger replacement parts and they aren't too stingy on the price.

I work at a B&M and let's just say this, from my experience a lot of B&M personnel are poorly educated or stocked on the product they sell. Also, the customers coming in are no better either for accusing the staff of selling garbage when they themselves are over torquing tanks and bases cracking parts and breaking others, dropping glass tanks onto concrete and claiming they just barely touched it. Then complain their tanks are leaking because they didn't screw the atty head down all the way or others. It sucks to get bad heads out of box(why I only use rebuidables) but it seems to be an industry standard that some atty are DOA out of box. Its not the stores fault, but the manufacturers and the need for better quality control on the items coming off the assembly line. I have worked plenty of factories, and the stuff coming off the lines half the time in China is enough to get you fired and never land a job again in the US if your are passing off duds. Q&C is highly needed.

However, the shop should not sell tanks that they clearly don't stock the heads. Some tanks however are lucky enough and they are interchangeable, and shops stock these primarely to keep stock levels lower and not having to carry tons of different heads. This can start to get cumbersome after a while when you carry 20+ tanks from different manufactures and all have their own coil head.

Customer service is a fine art. I have been doing it for years. Not only at a vape shop. But as a sales floor manager at a local Sears. Trust me, I know that for every legit customer concern are issue that was caused either by the company, he manufactures, or associates, there are at least a comparable number of liars trying to see how much they can get back unjustly. Not saying that is your case as it seems to be the former, but if American consumers can con someone to get free stuff, they will and try relentlessly. We love in a society that if I can get it for free I will try, regardless of whose job(who is an honest employee) may end out the door.

Your local guys seem like idiots though.
