Homemade DIY Tools

OK, so I'm retired and have a lot of time on my hands - and I enjoy every minute of it!!

I am somewhat new to DIY mixing, and found my clumsy self almost knocking over these little bottles and spilling some expensive liquid.

So, I started digging around my junk boxes to make a few tools:
This one is just a spray can top with a center plastic cup that keeps the bottle from being "easily" knocked over.

Here, I got a little more creative:
I used an old wall switch cover and glued 3 rubber "crutch tips" on it. These are also sold to put on stool feet to minimize floor scratches. This is the second version where I used 2 small and 1 medium rubber tip.

Along the same line, I was worried about spilling my large bottle of premixed base 50/50-1.2%:

I sliced a large rubber tip in half and screw/glued each side to a small piece of plywood. It works, but the board could be slightly larger.

Now for the main mixing station I got creative. I used several size tips and a larger board. Epoxy did not hold, so I resorted to screws inside each tip to secure each bottle holder.
This main unit sits inside a "cafeteria tray" in case I do have a spill.

And, here is my stash of flavors. This seems to grow a little larger each week...Thanks to Wizard Labs and the postman.

Now, if only I could mix a juice flavor that I really liked!!

Great gadgets!

I haven't (knock on wood) had a real spill, which is good, because my space is so busy, I've literally mixed juice on top of my laptop.

I do make sure to immediately close each bottle once I'm done with it...

I DID mix a couple flavors that I love - my actual FAVORITE juice is my own - I still buy some "commercial" juice, but it's great that I can whip up a couple weeks' supply of my "ADV" for a few dollars!

nice! I may try something like these. I work in a small space and my elbows knock things over when I reach for something else.

Glad you like them. Please feel free to copy/use these ideas as you see fit. But, if you come up with something good, let us know so we can make ourselves one.

What are you using to store your flavors in? I can't really tell from the picture. I really like that idea, it sure looks nice and organized. Mine are in a Rubbermaid container and can't find a thing!

You are welcome!

I like the toys and still use them myself. But, "good ain't good enough when better is available". (Thanks granddad.) I am replacing the crutch tip style holders...

I'll tell you a secret - There is a simple way to make a silicon like substance (like rubber) from the very PG we use and some unflavored gelatin from the grocery store. Google it for full details. Then, take a small dish/tray/what-have-you and sit your bottles in there and pour this around them. In about an hour, it is cool and you just remove the bottles... If you screw up, just re heat the goop and pour again...

I'll be updating my blogs pretty soon to show these new toys.

Holler back if you want more details...

Thank you.

I just added the pics of the "VG" and gelatin molds I am still perfecting. That shows a lot of promise for bottle holding and storage.
