Ego One Tank Family — CLR coiling and wicking

11 August 2016

Background:

Nearly two months ago, a fine gentleman I've come to know in these pages, Cheechako, began to
harrangue and pester me and another fine forum brother, IMRs, about the unparalleled virtues
of a clearomizer/tank he had fallen in love with. The three of us were Airheads, devoted to the GS-air clearo and its siblings, the M, Ms, and tank. Like many other airheads, I had accumulated a large store of replacement coils, including some dandy examples re-wicked and re-coiled by the master himself, the good Professor Cheech.

As you may have guessed, I was in no hurry to abandon that sunk cost and trusted stash of tanks that had served me well for over a year. Cheech was unflagging in his praise of the new tank, and especially the CLR coil. He was persistent. He was unyielding! He was, as we say in español, una verdadera mosca cojonera. A literal translation would get me in hot water with the language police.
Think of flies buzzing where you least want them. Yes, there.

The fellow would not take "No!" for an answer. In a rare combination of bloody-minded obstinacy
and generosity, he magically made the new gear appear in my mailbox. Talk about arm twisting...
So I put juice in the tank, set it to my usual wattage and took a puff. Very nice!

The rest is history in the making. I had never built a coil, and had re-wicked only two, destroying one coil in the process. I'm an avid gardener with acres of weeds. I also have a minor nerve problem in my hands. Put those together with too much weed pulling, and I'm effectively one-handed at the moment. It will pass in a couple of months, but for now I am typing one-handed and slowly.

Cheech and IMRs knew this, so what do you think those rascals did? They bullied me into coiling and wicking, even sending me c.a.r.e. packages of kanthal. Harrrrumph!

The happy story that follows, together with photographic evidence, instructions for wicking and coiling and puffing and smiling, will follow over the next week or two. It's easy, relatively inexpensive, and results in some wonderfully tasty vapor. Please check back for future episodes.

To be continued.
