One of my recent hauls was a parcel of e-liquids from a very highly-thought of vendor: Highbrow Vapor. I ordered a bunch of 10ml bottles, all 18mg in a mixture of PG/VG and with strong flavour. They arrived well packed and wrapped in butcher's paper and twine-nice touch. All are out of the box, since they took a week to arrive in Australia and I count that week as steeping time. Here's what I think.
English Malt Toffee--WOW. I repeat: WOW. This is one complex, sweet, salty, caramelly, malty, addictive e-liquid. It actually has the proper "cooked" taste of real toffee, combined with the slight sourness of malt powder. (I always order my milkshakes with extra malt powder. ) Pay close attention to the flavours and you will be rewarded. By the way, if you are thinking of the similarly-named liquid from BWB, don't. This is ten times better and more complex. (no offense to the BWB fans but Malty Toffee is just OK. I liked it once but won't be re-ordering.)
Orange de Sangre--This juice has a cult following and for good reason: it's basically like vaping Tropicana. Sweet and sour in perfect ratio. I am not a huge huge fruit juice fan but for this I will make an exception.
Blackberry Limoncello--This tastes like those fancy French hard candies in pretty metal tins. I wish it had a squish more limoncello in it to balance the candy-sweetness. The blackberry is a good rendition of the fruit. (and to judge by the dark colour of the liquid, is probably made from actual blackberries. Points.)
Cheesecake Torte--See discussion on "The Big Cheese (-cake) Thread" for thoughts on this complex juice. Very milky and creamy and unlike other cheesecake E-liquids. Low on tang. Very voltage-dependent. Can't wait to combine this with caramel.
Highbrow Malt-- Hmmm. I 'm not sure about this one. I cannot even properly describe it... will return and sample more eventually.
Highbrowbacco RY4--Nonononono. Perhaps it is too soon but this liquid bears the unmistakable aroma of acetone (nail polish remover). I will let the bottle and the filled cartomizer steep, and possibly dilute with plain nic juice. Shame because under the acetone there is a nice tobacco trying to get out.
Vanilla Bourbon Bean, Vanilla Decadence, Creme Brulee, Cappuccino Diablo-- I have grouped these all together because although they smell awesome they are simply too weak for my taste as they are right now. I will keep steeping them and if they don't work I will combine them with other things.
I appreciate HBV's site. It is easy to navigate and the flavour selection is nicely pared down. The proprietor of the site encourages you to customise your choices with extra this and a little bit of that. I may not have liked all the ones I tried but I appreciate the thought that went into them. ALSO--big bonus-- HBV offers international customers a free 10ml bottle of their choice to offset the expense of shipping. How very thoughtful.
I have re-ordered Cheesecake Torte, Highbrow Malt Toffee, and Orange de Sangre in 30ml bottles, and am trying out Peach Thymbra, Exotic Tobacco, basic Limoncello with no blackberry, Hazelnut Cream, and a freebie of Tiramisu.
Overall: A strong positive from me. Highbrow is a great new vendor.
