Day 4! This is good because the first three days are supposed to be the hardest and most stressful for the quitter to survive. It's a little different this time though, as I'm still on the nic. About 11-12mg. My plan is, once I get all my vapemail and can start mixing, I'll be able to wean myself off, a challenge I am looking forward to. So far, no major symptoms. Only thing I've noticed are a few cravings, but for my ecig, not for a nail. Also, these cravings are considerably more tolerable than the ones I remember having for those nasty analogs. Hey, I actually cringe when I think of it now!
In celebration, (actually because I was going to anyway), I started a notebook to document all the boring stats and numbers for my own reference. Like a vaping diary...but boring. (I'll share the good stuff though I promise.) Anyway, I started by attempting to calculate cost over time. It's not super accurate since I just started, but it does help to get an idea of how much I've spent.
As a smoker, I smoked roughly a pack a day. I calculated this out as about $150/month. That's actually on the low end though, because were too many factors that I just couldn't calculate. Factors such as my bum friends, always asking for a smoke or two. Then there were good days, but far more stressful, chain smoke days. Then there were the party/drinking days, where I'd burn through two or more packs in one night. (I'm a wee bit embarrassed to admit that there were probably more drinking/party nights than you think.)
The first few purchases I've made were about September through January. I spent...wait for it...about $450. My second thought (because my first was nothing but mental profanity towards my incompetence at budgeting) was, "No wonder I was frustrated." Mind you, I still smoked during this time, so add that to the cost of smokes. I was also buying all commercial products, sleek, fashionable batteries and prefilled carts.
Since then, I've been buying hardware to build my own mods, tools, and juices for DIY mixing. In the past month, I've invested (see how I changed that from spent?) about $200. The thing is though, I'm thinking these purchases will last much longer than before. I'll have enough hardware and juice to potentially last me the next six months. Also, minus the cost of smokes this time cause I'm determined not to factor that in again. The only expense I anticipate now are impulse buys, because of sampling flavors, and will probably start REALLY modding soon.
Oh but I am actually in more trouble there than I let on. Let's face it. It looks more like I'm getting ready for the FDA apocalypse than stocking up on 6 months worth of supplies. I've got a stacked toolbox designated especially for my modding stuff now...and I'm afraid my home office is slowly turning into a DIY eliquid lab that would make Eisenberg proud.
