While out looking for places to promote my Barbershop Quartet Singing Valentines, I wandered into a local pawn shop (okay, I was looking at tools too
), staffed by a young lady (Sally) & guy (Jim) behind the counter.
The stench of cigarette smoke hung in the air, so I casually commented, with a grin, 'must be a smoker around eh?'
Jim points to Sally & says 'yep, that's her.'
I pull out my pv and asked if she'd heard much about these things yet.
Jim reaches down and pulls his pv out and says, "I've been trying to get her to try it and quit smoking!"
We had a really great exchange, both in comparing our experiences, juice preferences & vendors, but then also seizing the opportunity to be another voice to add to Jim's in helping get Sally to give vaping a try.
Nothing pushy, lecturing, proselytizing, but just affirming Jim's efforts of persuasion.
Btw, Jim is currently still having a few t-burners himself, but has cut way down. I shared that pearl of wisdom I picked up here at ECF: Don't count the ones you do smoke, count the ones you haven't!
He smiled and it was obvious that really hit-home & made sense, and hopefully helped strengthen his own efforts to quitting.
A nice visit, and yes, I left some Singing Valentine's Day flyers on the counter!
