Okay, so technically I made the decision to switch to an e-cigarette last night. If you won't tell, neither will I. So today, day 1 (sshhh), I made the decision to quit smoking Camel cigarettes and switch to an e-cigarette. Why did I make that decision? I bet you regret asking that because it's a really long story.
I love smoking cigarettes. I started when I was 10 and loved it since day 1. I smoked Marlboro's for years (because I was stealing them from my parents) but then switched to Camel because they're stronger. I believe it's a sin to buy kings when 100's cost the same price. I believe if you aren't smoking at least 15 cigarettes a day, you might as well quit. I believe you should always be respectful of non-smokers. And I believe you shouldn't smoke if you can't afford it.
And that last belief is the reason for the switch. Money. Right now I live in North Carolina. Using the coupons Camel so generously sends us, we only pay around $30 for a carton. But because of my Dad's many health problems, I'll be moving back to South Dakota to take care of him. I don't know if you've been to South Dakota, but the cigarette prices are scary! I'm talking around $80 - $90 for one carton! On principle alone, I refuse to pay that outrageous amount!
My first plan was to have my hubby, John, send me cigarettes in the mail. Even with shipping, it would still be cheaper. But that plan bit the dust because he'll be moving with me in a couple of months and then who would send them? Then I decided to just quit altogether. Haha! Yeah right! That plan lasted all of 10 seconds!
(Enter Grandma)
My Grandma has quit smoking more times than I can count. She's went cold turkey, used chantrix, gone through hypnosis, used the patch and lozenges, and every other method out there. And she was successful every time. But then about 6 months would go by and she would ask me for just 1 cigarette. Then she would ask for another and another (she thought she wasn't technically smoking if she didn't buy them herself. lol). Meanwhile, she would keep it a secret and while she's making everyone else smoke outside, she's sneaking one in the kitchen. This always lasts a week or two before she gets caught. Then she officially starts smoking and allows us to once again smoke in her house.
Did you seriously just read all that?
So anyways, I was talking to my Grandma on the phone last night and she mentioned she had stopped smoking 2 months ago. She said she had switched to an e-cigarette, the njoy, and she really liked it. She says she had minimal withdrawal symptoms, she was saving money, and her doctor was much happier with her. Although she's spending less than she would on real cigarettes, she wanted to know if there was any way to spend even less.

Hi. I'm Cat and I'm a deal finder. I'm constantly amazing my family and friends with the great deals I find online. This means I'm their go-to person when they want to save money. One thing I do when I'm searching out their deals is to find out everything I can about the item I'm searching for (I love knowledge). Keeping with that tradition, I researched for a couple hours. After reading a bunch of articles that all had conflicting information, I was ready to give up. Then I landed here. Thank god. Within minutes, I had posted a question and received a few answers. So I posted more questions (sorry about that, by the way) and got more answers. While reading through the wealth of information ya'll provided (thank you, by the way), it struck me that this was the perfect solution to my dilemma. This was a way to keep smoking without paying the astronomical prices. Yay!
<---- This is me.
But I still know nothing about e-cigarettes. Unfortunately, this means I'll have interrogate the forum for answers. Yes, this means you. And because the easiest way for me to understand something is to write about it, I'll be recording everything I learn right here.
I know this was a super long post so if you're still reading this, I'm putting you on my Christmas list.
