Been a few years of playing with the ecig's before I managed to get serious. Started these things early in 2009. Had my first purchase order out of China held by Customs till after a ban was instituted on importation and had it sent back on me. I mostly used the ecigs when at computer as I don't smoke in the house, and at my girlfriends house as she has never smoked, and tobacco elsewhere. Have been a pack a day smoker for just over 30 years. Got a new doctor this year, she is new in the profession, and it was her suggestion that it was time to stop smoking during my physical and surprisingly, her suggestion that I try using ecigs to get off tobacco. Toyed with the idea for a few weeks and the evening of March 11 2012, while sitting on the front stoop having a smoke and a few Scotch's, I grabbed a role of duct tape and taped the hell out of the pack I was smoking and wrote the date on the tape. Threw the rest of the unopened packs in the garbage. A few days without tobacco, (I carpool with three smokers) and I broke down and decided to have a smoke in the truck. Got a mouthful of smoke and it was like a mouthful of week old cigarette butts. Blew the smoke out without inhaling so I decided that did not count as falling off the wagon.
So, 5 and a half weeks later and lungs are much clearer, smell and taste improved, and biggest bonus is my sleep is much better. I cannot believe how much more rested I feel. I am vaping in the carpool with my smoking buddies, spending my lunch and breaks at work in the smoking area vaping, and second hand smoke smells good, like comfort food. I just remember how that mouthful of smoke tasted after a few days without and strengthen my resolve to stay off it because I still feel the urge to light up.
