First Week Vaping, Update

I'm on day 3 now. I did go back to the dripping after some messy experiences refilling the cartos and finding out that one had leaked almost a whole carto of e-liquid into the eGo atomizer cover while it was in place. I really don't like that cover. Granted, it does make the whole thing look much nicer, but I have to unscrew it too often and I don't like not knowing what's going on under it.

I began dripping in the morning of day 2. That is what I have been doing since unless I have to drive somewhere or I'm vaping in bed. Before bed last night, I checked in to VapeTV. They were talking about "drip shields" - I had seen them but really couldn't figure out what they were for other than as an aesthetic addition. So I asked. I ended up with one of two they were giving away last night! That made my day. With my newbie mistakes in over filling carts and flooding the atty, it's going to be a very helpful addition! Now, I have my eye on the Empire Mod to go with it. :laugh:I'm on Vaper's Lair as KyanaBelle, so look me up if you tweet over there. I'm finding that vapers are some of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. It's been a very good experience in that regard.

I have made a few discoveries in the past 72 hours. For one, cats frown on smoking. Who knew? They certainly never clued me in that it was a social no-no in feline circles. They've been all over me since I began vaping. I only thought I was popular with them before. Now they are fighting with each other for lap time. Apparently, before they were merely sucking up to score some nip. :glare:

Secondly, I've learned that my eGo PT (1000mah w/ 510 atty) is far more satisfying when actually hooked up to a power source (I think it runs at 5 volts when plugged in). The flavor and the TH are much better when it is running on AC.

I've learned to step out of the box on my e-juices. I never could smoke non-menthol cigarettes. It always felt like sucking hot air and who wants to just suck hot air (another point for my addiction not being so much an actual addiction to nic). Usually if I would run out of cigarettes, I'd prefer to go without rather than bum a non-menthol smoke from someone. And I always sought out the frostiest menthols I could find. My sons always complained that I smoked peppermint sticks instead of cigarettes. Well, today I received a free sample of "VooDoo" from Freedom Smokes USA. With a name like "VooDoo" there was no way I could resist trying it. WOW - it's now my favorite vape. I don't detect a hint of mint or menthol in it. It's a fruity-hot-spicy blend that defies description, but it is awesome!

I'm learning to tweak my hit technique to maximize the TH. Smoking for me was always about the TH. That TH was the thing I mourned for the most when I did quit for 6 months over a decade ago. I do mean I really grieved for it. Maximizing TH is going to be key to my full enjoyment of vaping. I am learning that certain dragging techniques produce better TH. Now I need to be able to drag that way without consciously thinking about it. I know it is only a matter of time before it becomes second nature.

I've also learned that if your vision is not 20/20, you may need a magnifying glass to see down the barrel of a black atty to align your cart properly with the bridge. My parents and I kept passing the darned thing around to each other, eyeballing it like a tiny telescope, trying to figure out how the bridge was positioned. The penlight didn't help. I don't know if that is the case with the lighter colored attys or not. If you have cataracts, I highly recommend a very bright flashlight/penlight and a magnifying glass to save yourself some frustration. Also, if you do have those vision issues, hitting the top of the atty is much easier than trying to drip through the top of the drip tip. I have to pull the drip tip off to drip and then replace it or I end up with juice running down the outside of my PV and onto my hand.

Well, there is the summary of the last two days' experiences and hands-on acquired knowledge. Much more to learn yet, without a doubt.
