Well, let me start by introducing myself.
My name is _nicholas, just like all of you, I have fell in love with vaping. This has been a great last few months and I am convinced that these are "Life Saving" devices and should be treated as such by the community. This is why I am posting this Blog.
The reason most of us started smoking was the "cool" factor, even if we don't admit it, we most certainly did on some level. Thus is makes clear sense that part of the transition to vaping would need a "cool" attachment. This is why I am drawn to the detailed mods, and devices that so many talented people invent and create.
I build custom guitars (tele's none the less) so I understand the craft of creating something of value and beauty. Not un-like mods, many of the "Features" I use in my guitars were the birth child of Leo Fender, he created a sound and a form that has lasted for 50 + years. We continue to push the craft, by using Leo's design and customizing the feature to make endless musical pieces. I believe he smiles every time a new "tele" type comes out of a wood shop, even though he or his old company will never see a dime of profit. The greater good was severed, music was made and his birth child lives on.
I draw the comparison to mods because of the frustration with some of the craftsmen that are building these great devices. "Out of Stock" is standard on so many level's, you see it the sea of mods all over the web. You read about one company or the other ripping off someone or using features that belong to them. I write music, I get the copyright, but I, if giving the choice between making someone's life better because of my art, I would choice that over the .25 cent itunes payment I would get. The privilege is mine that you choose to listen to my music. I should be giving you .25 cents (joke)
I believe that IMEO understands this, his pre-order system should work to that end. Clear communication on what his intention are, could not ask for more at this stage in the game for Mods. One comment on the GG, Buttons and Battery Tubes is not your art, the placement and function of these I don't believe should hold an international patten. What I think should, is the brand, you set your self apart by creating better things for the vaping world, stay ahead of copies, always put your customers first, and communicate and your business will thrive. We will and have supported your journey to build the best. The copies should be chasing you, you are the artist, they make you better just by being there.
Pedro in my estimation is another good example, he has communicated his intentions, given his fans a place to discuss, and is making fine pieces of art. Again the placement of Buttons and Battery tubes was the canvas his copyright is the beauty of his pieces.
Mojo, I do not know you, but from what I have seen you are an artist as well. Communication is key to maintaining that in the eye's of the world. You, like the other's can help, by simple posts, or by making sure those who assist you do what they say they will do.
Faceless, I have no complaints, I was on the winning end of a KCVO last week.
My only thoughts are you have created the demand from LE's to direct attention to the standard, keep that in mind as you progress through creating these wonderful hybrids. The community will support both, the ones that get LE's will be happy, and the average budget vapor will have access to the what many people think is the best of the best right now. Best wishes, know that your products are changing people's live, including mine.
As for the rest, carry on with bring product to market, the artist have there work cut out for them. You can think about the Leo Fender model, make sure you bring a better product to us that honor's and advances the form. You too save lives. Just make sure you don't forget were you came from. Better websites, communicate, share, and most of all advance the ball forward.
The frustration to the masses is simple, we want to be a part of the growth of this industry, let us. Every venture needs leadership. Lead, communicate and your work will be rewarded. Don't and the copies will move ahead, and that leaves us no better off.
