Givers and takers

In this life, there are givers and takers. Takers aren't those people who take assistance because they genuinely need it, they are the people who take the micky.

One of my dearest friends came to visit me in June for my birthday and started using my old ecab with some 12mg juice known as Marlboro but actually tasting like Quality Street chocolates. He loved it and hardly smoked a single cigarette the entire time he was here. I let him take it home with him. Now, credit where its due, he's had a VERY hard time of late and hasn't really stuck with it. But he knows where it is, and does use it on occasion but with the hard time he's been having, I'm going to cut him some slack.

Now let's look at the real micky takers. Luckily, I don't live in the same house as them but they are my neighbours and they do rent from the same landlords. I say 'they'. The chap pays rent, the girl just lives there with him, despite not being on the lease and impacting on the communal bills and insurance. While these people are my friends, or so I thought, I didn't want to drop them in it with the landlords and have been keeping it to myself. Besides, with her laundry draped everywhere and hardly being discrete about the time she spends there, I don't need to. However, this has nothing to do with vaping. On the day I met them, they were just moving in so I invited them around for beer later on. They joined me and we had a lovely time. They were both going to try and quit smoking and bought themselves a disposable ecig each. Needless to say, this didn't help...especially when the girl dropped hers in a pint... So I would lend them one of my spares. I bought myself a new Ego-C and lent them one of the cones, an atomiser, 60ml of juice, a charger and two Ego-T batteries. This was in July. This was two months ago and there were plenty of 'yeah, I should buy my own'... two pay cheques later and they haven't. Considering that all their rent is paid up (she doesn't pay rent to 'live' with her parents) and she has a full-time income, I'm lost as to where their money is going. I reacquired one of my batteries because it was old and I wanted to test coils for my EVOD on it...but the other battery and charger are still there.

I know I'm in a foul mood at the moment and probably sound like I'm ranting (even if its not has bad as the previous housemates!) but I'm rather irked by all of this. Not least of all because of the total lack of reciprocation. We had talked about cooking for one another at various points. I held up my end of the bargain with a roast dinner and have seen no reciprocation since. I have shared drinks with them but they have yet to buy any back. I have yet to see a return of my property, despite pointing them in the direction of many good suppliers selling at a reasonable price.

While Beelzebub moved out of my house and the mood has lifted dramatically, I fear that they will become the new Beelzebubs of that house. He has his own chair in the living room and uses it to play computer games all the time. He has his girlfriend living with him and paying no rent, leaving laundry everywhere. By the time the new housemates move in, it will be THEIR house.

On the flip side, my new housemates are beginning to move in. I certainly get along with one of them, at least at the moment. In fact, I may be harbouring a minor (HUUUUUUUGE!) crush... but hopefully that will disappear as fast as it came. Seriously, how could you not develop a crush on a really tall guy with an Irish accent who hugs you the second he meets you and makes you French toast for breakfast, then cooks dinner with you and shares a bottle of wine, all whilst listening to Miles Davis?! When I'm whinging about my terrible housemates this year, don't worry, I'll remember that I'm an idiot! At least in the meantime, I appear to have a good one! He likes that I want things to be fair, and happy and lovely. In some respects I want to make this MY house in that I want to make sure everything is lovely. I will have to take charge in some respects if this isn't happening but it damned well will! I'm NOT having another year like last year!
