Hi Everyone!

Just to let anyone reading this know, I'm very candid about my life and my disabilities, i try to be transparent because knowing about disabilities is the first step in accepting them. If anyone here is uncomfortable reading about my disabilities, skip the paragraph :)

Hi y'all! My name is daisy and although this is my first post ...i've been lurking and reading for a while. i'm glad i did, because i found Backwoods Brew and OMG they're amazing. If i wasn't poor, I'd have ordered more than just one 15ml bottle (malty toffee, need i say more - and i went with one bottle in case i can afford a larger one later, lol!) My addiction before that was (and still will be my main vape) is black licorice cut a little with some extra anise extract added in. A kind donor is setting me up with a Boge Leo - yay! I love vaping! I have been smoke free for 7 weeks and 3 days as i write this :) Heck yeah, I still have nicotine in all of *3* of my flavors with nicotine so far, but i had purchased a bunch of cheapie 5ml no-nic bottles to try out flavors from madvapes. i found some i love (sticky toffee pudding and peach cobbler anyone?) but also found some that i find gross - even after decanting (green apple which others seem to love). Everyone here seems so supportive of everyone else - love this place. i've come here for a lot of advice. The only advice i didn't follow was to go ahead and get a more expensive set-up, but the ego C popped up right after i did what i did purchase-wise. A nice person who heard about my situation is setting me up with a boge leo instead :) Miracles do happen! YAY!!!!!!!!!!

A bit about me, hrm. i'm a book nut. i worked for almost 8 years for Borders bookstore until i became disabled in late Jan 2006. I loved borders and our location was very special, we were like family. I was tickled when an old co-worker of mine took a picture of the white board that had been outside my office until I left to work at another location for 4 months. My name and all my ordering directions as well as where to find things in my office were still on there - with my name and not any the Office Supervisors that came after me - that was kind of cool! Jenny Lind, the Swedish Songbird, performed for the last time in public before she passed away - at our store! I got to meet all sorts of cool authors and the free advance reader copies were like free gold! I also found out, that our store in Fairfax, VA, was officially the last to lock its doors in Sept. of 2011. That makes me sad - but I have great memories that will always be with me!

My leaving for disability in Jan '06, was actually first due (although I didn't know at the time what would come) an ankle surgery in 8/05 to repair a severed peroneous brevis tendon (2nd surgery on it 6/06) , then i in Nov 05 found out i have two herniations (T7-T8 (inoperable) and L1-L2 for those in the know) along with spina bifida occulta (if anyone is curious, just pm me, it's not as creepy as it sounds, lol) AND to top it off, aggressive arthritis in both knees that's been moving to new parts of my body at a crazy rate. I'm also bipolar in a new category (it used to just be bipolar 1 or 2) called Bipolar 4 - mixed mania and i suffer from panic and anxiety attacks as well as severe ptsd and major depressive disorder. i'm still trying to get my actual disability (i don't even have medicaid, just food stamps which i'm far from being ashamed of). i have an awesome fiance who is also disabled (hydrocephalus) and we live on his SSI - so we have to budget a lot, lol! That's why i'm mourning the fact that i'll probably not be able to order from Backwoods for a while, lol!

Anywho, i digress! i love books, as i said a bit ago. i have a collection that's 1.5-2k books give or take a few. we have 8 bookcases and I really need at least 5 more! i think we're going to try to turn the cat room (we have 7 kitties who are mostly rescues) into a part cat walkway heaven/part full room bookshelves. Thankfully i have family & friends nearby who can help - should be an interesting project once i finish the plans! i also collect PEZ - i have about 1k of them and we're slowly finding places for them in the house (we live in a house my parents got me so i wouldn't be homeless - and so i'd be closer to them as they're both in their 70's - and it's a cute little arts & crafts cottage so LOTS of wood and amazing floors, but also years of abuse:() We discovered they fit perfectly on top of all the window and door frames - like a match made in heaven (and a little bit of fun tack, lol!) cats and toy targets do NOT mix (which is also why they're so high up!). i'm also a philatelist. i've been collecting stamps since i was about 7 years old. My grandfather was actually a stamp broker in NYC which i amazing. i really never knew you could make a *really* good living buying, selling and auctioning stamps! It was extra super cool when i was little because he'd give me "special" stamps and tell me to go home and have my dad help me put it in my album (dad collected too and xmas of 2010 he gave me his collection - mini faint!)

We have 7 kitties, almost all rescues and 4 are a year apart in age - i'll have to show pics - i'm a proud mommy. Our big baby cat, Zilla, has 28 or 29 toes (she hates having her feet touched so we can't get a good count). i named her catzilla because she was twice the size of the other 3 kittens. i have her mama (cricket) and uncle (romeo) who are littermates. Right when i was about to get cricket fixed, a foster kitten who was apparently older than the agency thought got her preggers. Zilla now weighs in at over 25lbs - she's a beast - and mama cat weighs 4.5 lbs! We also have Colin's (my fiance) kitty moxie (she's the oldest at 10) and then we have the string of kittens oldest to youngest, Gidget, Linnea and Foster. We named him Foster because we were NOT going to adopt another kitty but we couldn't re-home him no matter what we did, and our local pound doesn't take in cats because they're always full! So we have 7 and it's like a funhouse sometimes and there are mousies and balls and toys just everywhere but you learn which ones are hazardous to step on, lol!

Guess i've babbled enough for the moment - whew i when i get going i don't shut up, er stop typing? It's real life too so don't think i only ramble on here :p

toodles for now!

Hi Daisygirlie, I'm CharlieGirl and was reading through the fogie forum LOL, and got a kick out of some of your posts so had to come here. We have some stuff in common beside the name and disability thing (FMS,CFS, arthritis, disk issues, chronic depression, yadda yadda) and not eligible for disability because I didn't work for 5 of the last 10 years!!! I don't even want to go there, it just pisses me off! Anyway, we also always had scads of kitties who adopted us, though currently we only have 2 indoor and 3 outdoor, all but one neutered because we have yet to catch him! LOL! Glad you found vaping! It's funny, I am not a big black licorice fan really, but like vaping it, especially in combination with honey and menthol like my favorite cough drop- Ludens Honey Licorice! My hubby hates the smell of it though, so it comes in handy when I'm ...... at him! LOL. (Yep, sure do vape a lot of it!) Well, just wanted to say hi and glad you are here!

Hi Daisy, I just wanted to stop by and say hi. I read your blog. I can also relate to some of your disabilities. I have the arthritis joint pain is such a pain the ....!! I also have Lupus which brings on depression from time to time. I really enjoy reading your posts. I am very glad that you are apart of ECF. You take care.:):vapor:
