In memory of my dear friend Ariel. PT1

A fellow vaper, and dear friend of mine Ariel passed away on February 4, 2011. In her memory of always wanting to help people here are her recipes for juice. And some of her more humorous experiences...

I love you lady.... Forever rest in peace.

3.00 48 mg

Shake n Vape

---------------------------------------------------------

2.10 glycerine
0.40 orange oil
0.50 everclear

---------------------------------------------------------

*I brought this one up to her the last time I saw her*

Fire and Ice juice:

2.50 ml glycerine
6 drops menthol base
1 drop spearmint EO
1 drop wintergreen EO
0.10 cinnamon oil (Lorann's)
0.40 everclear
3.00 ml 48 mg base

Mix in order listed. Shake n vape. :vapor: This makes 6 ml of yummy vapable 24 mg juice. (Adjust glycerine and nic base for desired strength).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just Mint

2.50 ml glycerine
6 drops menthol base
1 drop spearmint EO
1 drop wintergreen EO
0.50 everclear
3.00 ml 48 mg base

Mix in order listed. Shake n vape. :vapor: This makes 6 ml of yummy vapable 24 mg juice. (Adjust glycerine and nic base for desired strength) Yes, this is nearly identical to the previous recipe.

---------------------------------

Menthol base - originally posted elsewhere on the forum, but reposted here for reference.

Crush menthol crystals in a double plastic bag until powdery.

Fill a dropper bottle with the crushed crystals.

Add Everclear into bottle until crystals dissolve and the bottle is full.

Cap the bottle and shake while running under hot water. Shake until crystals are totally dissolved, about 2 min.

1 drop of base per 1 ml of juice makes a good strong, smooth and highly vapable juice.

Ariel's Mountain Dew Recipe

Ah yes... the elusive Mountain Dew flavor. With some help from other forum members, we'd had a thread going on the juice recipes forum. I checked, and the thread is still there, but it's gone WAY off-topic.

I'd dropped the Mt. Dew flavor for a bit. It's good stuff, but circumstances made it easier to stick with clove and menthol.

Well, I'm back to mixing flavors again.

I know.. there's all kinds of cool and awesome flavors for DIY juice out there. I could spend hundreds of dollars (that I don't have) on all those flavors. I feel like such a loser (ha) when all I have to work with is Lorann flavors. Some do, indeed, suck. But... they're available locally, and relatively cheap.

(Spoons N Spice, for those of you living in the Salt Lake Valley. 2 - 1 dram bottles cost $3, and they're available all year 'round. They have a pretty good selection - I'd say 30 flavors +/-.)

So.. back to Mountain Dew.

Last weekend, when I was picking up some flavors to replenish my stock, I stumbled across some Lorann's Lime Oil.

"Hmmmm," said I, "perhaps this is the missing ingredient?" I'd tried some orange oil, and it was clear from the first vape that orange was NOT the missing ingredient.

So I spent the few bucks to pick up the bottles of lime oil.

I just now mixed up a batch of Mountain Dew, tweaking the ingredients slightly to make room for the lime.

My conclusion is lime oil IS that missing ingredient I've been looking for. The blend tastes just about perfect, and is probably about as close as I'm going to get without spending more time and $$$, both of which are in short supply.

Here's my revised recipe for 6 ml, 20 mg Mountain Dew (all flavors Lorann), to be added to the syringe in this order:

2.50 ml glycerine
0.30 ml key lime
0.50 ml strawberry
0.05 ml lime oil
0.05 ml lemon oil
0.30 Everclear
2.30 ml 48 mg unflavored base

Shake, shake, shake, pour into bottle and vape away!

Ariel's Updated Clove Recipe

Wow.. just looking over the previous recipe I posted for clove juice.

I don't think it could get much more complicated than that. 8-o

I experimented and came up with a MUCH simpler way to mix the stuff. The only variables are adjusting the VG and the unflavored base to get the strength you want.

One note I should add about the essential oils: Make sure the drop sizes are the same between the anise oil and the clove oil. The best way to ensure this is to use the same brand of essential oil for both. When I was streamlining the recipe, I used NOW brand anise oil and Aura Cacia clove oil. Aura Cacia's drops are smaller than NOW's, and the resulting blend was too heavy on the anise.

The NOW brand is cheaper than Aura Cacia, and the quality is about the same. And using NOW oils gives the right amount of flavor.

One other note: Yes, essential oils. The tiny amounts used in this recipe will NOT clog your atty, especially if you're properly maintaining it.

Here's the updated recipe - makes 10 ml of juice:

Add to syringe in this order:

X ml glycerin (VG)
4-5 drops clove essential oil
1 drop anise essential oil
1.5 ml Everclear
Y ml 48 mg unflavored base

X + Y = 8.5 ml

14 mg = 5.6 VG + 2.9 - 48 mg
20 mg = 4.9 VG + 3.6 - 48 mg
24 mg = 3.5 VG + 5.0 - 48 mg
30 mg = 3.2 VG + 5.3 - 48 mg
36 mg = 2.1 VG + 6.4 - 48mg

Happy vaping!

Ariel's Cleaning Atties

This is more for my reference. It's based off this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/for...st-thread.html and various other threads suggesting using denture cleaner tabs.

  1. Blow out the dirty atties.
  2. Put atties in a small glass and add enough Crest Pro-health Blue to cover them (optionally, mouthpieces may be added).
  3. Gently shake the glass about 15 minutes - think of icecubes in water. There's no need to continuously shake, maybe once or twice every minute.
  4. Blow out the atties, then rinse with warm water, and blow them again.
  5. Drop a denture tablet - I use unflavored Efferdent - in very warm (not hot) water, then add equipment. Make sure the mouthpieces are part of this step.
  6. Let the mix stand for 15 minutes.
  7. Blow out the atties, then rinse and blow again.
  8. Place atties and mouthpieces on absorbent paper, and let dry approximately 24 hours.
The double cleaning removes virtually ALL built-up junk and any residual minty-fresh Crest.

Remember the clean atty is about as clean as a new one, and will soak up a LOT of juice. Once it's resoaked, let it sit a minute or three before vaping again. It may also take a bit before it starts vaping properly again.

It takes a bit of effort, but since using this method, I have had zero dead atties. I also rotate enough atties that I only need to do the full cleaning once a month.

Excellent. Elegant. Simple

This was something I blended today - wanted to try a couple of flavors by themselves that seemed to work well together with other flavors in other recipes. At the last minute I decided to put in a drop of lavender oil.

Wow. All three flavors come through nicely, starting with an initial lavender burst, then the banana and strawberry nicely blended together. This one's a keeper.

6 mls @ 30 strength, added to mixing syringe in this order:

1.10 ml VG
0.50 ml Banana Creme (Lorann's)
1 drop lavender essential oil
0.40 ml Strawberry (Lorann's)
0.30 ml PGA
3.70 ml 48 mg unflavored
