Innokin iTaste VV V2

This was my first venture into the world of VV, and I bought it before Volt came out with the Spinner. I decided on the iTaste becasue the magnetic head system accomodates both 510, 808 devices and a proprietary iTaste device. Being a SI/Volt guy I wanted the ability to use 808 without any adapters and the iTaste does that. It is advertised as a 700mah battery system, but I find it doesn't really perform as well as an X2-650 in terms of battery life. That can be a result of boosting voltage or that the battery just doesn't hold up all that well.

First impressions were that it is a great device. The display is easy to see and it is also easy to adjust. The "puff" counter is handy to determine how much charge is left on the battery. Yeah, that can be subjective based on how long you drag for each puff, but it is a good general guide. The fire button is a large square one with good tactile feel. It has a tricolor LED behind it to indicate relative charge condition, green, yellow or red. When it goes red you get no vapor!

Their proprietary system is great! My only complaint is that it only has about a 1ml capacity. It's a square tank that fits in a special magnetic head that comes with the kit. It is super easy to fill, no syringe needed. All you have to do is pop the silicon base seal out, fill it, and put the seal back in. The liquid path is straight down through the center while the air path is up through channels along the sides. It is very unique, and to me anyway, is about as close to dripping as you can get without dripping. The mini tanks come with an air flow restrictor in the mouthpiece that I remove for better draw, it just pops out. The head for this system has a replaceable atomizer that screws into the bottom of the magnetic head. I've used two, as of three months of use and the kit comes with four atomizers and five tanks. The atomizers are 2.6 ohms and, I think, could actually be rebuilt.

The 510 connection works fine and I use T3s on it at 4.1 volts all the time. The 808 head had a problem with thread. SI CE3s and cartos would not thread on properly at all, no contact. I contacted the vendor, Sterling Vapes, and they replaced it with a new one that works better, but it's was not quite right. I used a wire brush in a Dremel to take off a little of the chrome plating and that did the trick.

The big weakness of the iTaste, to me anyway, is the charging port. It is a super small coaxial connector, similar to the type of connector found on CD or cassette players. I have two batteries and one of them always needs special attetnion to get a good contact for charging. It can be used as a passthrough but I am not confident that the charger port would hold up for very long using it that way.

I have noticed a definte drop off in the number of drags I get off of each charge, currently at about 50 cycles on both batteries. I track every charge, drag count and voltage used, and have seen about a 25% reduction in the puff count over the three months I've been using them. This became apparent at about the end of month two. I do use them heavily so maybe I'm not a typical user and wearing them out faster than most people might. The battery is non-replaceable and probably similar to a 14500 battery.

Overall, I really like the iTaste. It looks pretty nice and the square shape of the body keeps it from rolling around, and falling. The pen cap that comes with it gives it a nice, finished look. Overall fit and finish are also quite good. In terms of durability, I have dropped them a few times and they just keep chugging along. Sometimes I get a dead hit. This seems to be a result of losing contact between the head and battery. I just pull the head and click it back in and the problem goes away again. By the way, the magnet system is very strong and I have no worries about it falling apart by accident.
