Keeping it cheap!

Hello :) this is a new venture to me, as I've never blogged. I would like to share how I keep my budget down. The cost factor was a big motivator for making a switch to e cigarettes. Smokes are about eight bucks a pack here.
When I first started it was with the Mistic from Wal-mart. Before buying it I had done some online research, but not enough. I'd seen many popular cigarette like models online for $60-$100. That was very far out of reach at the time. So I bought the $15 Mistic kit. I smoked for a few days, and then the last day couldn't even finish my last smoke. It grossed me out. Soon I learned the the cartomizers weren't equal to 2 packs of smokes as advertised. After making the full switch I was going through $15 worth of pre-filled cartos a day! I joined this forum and learned I could refill my cartos with some e liquid. That really helped out budget wise. Washing cartomizers really doesn't work. I've tried that to save money. It usually ends up costing more, because they don't always work after washing. Plus the taste is gross. You waste e liquid, and that costs money.
Now on to eGos. My first eGo kit was expensive, if not over priced :glare: If you're new, don't expect these devices to last forever. One of my favorite finds was the 900mah Carpax colored eGos by smok for $17 They work really well, and are cheap! Keep the connecting threads on your eGo clean. Just because it says sealed doesn't mean it's water proof. If e liquid is dripping into the housing, guess what? It will trash your battery and you'll waste money. Good eGo cartomizers help save some cash. A 5 pack of Boge or smok XL cartos will last me a month! I pay about 6 bucks a pack for them. Helped me save up to buy nicer clearos, and the subject of the next paragraph.
Mods :) I own two of these. Yes that is all I am cheap, and guess what? I don't like to spend money :p One is an MVP V1 I bought at the start of July, and it still works. These kits are good. The iclear16 is a nice clearomizer and I rebuilt mine until they literally fell apart (back in Dec). I bought a ProVari in August (even though I am cheap) it's a good mod. There are lots of mods out there, and plenty of reviews to read. One of the best things about them (mods) is most swap out batteries. The MVP I bought of course has a built in battery (it's biggest down fall). Being able to change batteries out instead of an entire device is good. Plus it's cheaper and guess what? You'll save money.
DIY e liquid. This is a huge way to save money! Huge! I really regret not getting into this early on. Read all of the important stickies in the DIY part of ECF. You'll need to know what to do, and how to do it safely. I go through 10-15 milliliters of e liquid a day. This was getting way to expensive. Making my own has cut costs way down, and it's not hard. Use a good e liquid calculator. http://www.ejuice.breaktru.com/
Lastly: if you find something that works stick with it. If money is an issue, and what you have is working good for you....do you really need to buy something else :D ? Sure trying new things is great, and that's especially the case if what you have isn't working. Not only does holding out help your wallet, but it gives you an extra tool in your arsenal. Last year I had the goal of getting down to very low and 0 nicotine. That was the biggest factor in buying mods. Being able to adjust voltage and try new things helped get to that goal. If you buy everything at the start you rob yourself this opportunity. One more thing, keep your eye out for coupons. These can really help, and some vendors have a point program. I loved being able to cover shipping costs with points. A little research is worth it if you're on a tight budget :vapor:
