Ok, so like a lot of you I just got my new stainless lava tube. Its my first lt, but I've been
vaping close to 3 years. Only a 1.5 at ecf, though. A lot of you had a bunch of questions about setting up your dual coil
tanks, which cartos to use, dripping to an atty, and general questions we all had when we first started with the vv
vaping, ect. But in an effort to get those questions OUT of the Apollo supplier forum, I set up this thread. I'll do my best to help you answer any questions in a timely fashion, and hopefully some other veterans with some more tech knowledge will pop in to help out, too.
Reason we're doing it this way is so A) any one who gets a new LT or similar vv device like the Vision Tox in the future can come in here and benefit from all the questions asked before them, and B) Apollo is an excellent vendor for lava tubes and accessories for them. But a whole bunch of you have questions about products/cartos/tanks etc that they con't carry, and its kinda considered bad form to put a bunch of info about products a vendor doesn't carry in that vendors forum. The vendor forums are for questions, fanboys, support on the products that they carry, for the most part... make sense? k...
So any questions, go ahead and stick em here, and if any of you wrote questions in the apollo thread, feel free to repost them here, and paste in any good answers you received to them. That way this thread becomes a sort of knowledge-base about beginners getting used to lava tubes, cool?

What version Lavatube are you using? It matters with some of the questions you might have.
*
original lavatubes (called many different names by different vendors), which came out about a year ago now, in black silver and red, and had the flat top 510 connection and the powdercoated body with plastic end caps.
*
New all metal series, which are the stainless, chrome, copper and have the odd shaped ego connection with the channel. The stainless is only available at Apollo so far, but chrome and copper are popping up at other vendors.
*
New version 1.5 lavatubes, which look just like the originals, but have upgraded internals. So they have an ohm (resistance meter) that tells you the ohm of your cartos/attys, and they have a 3.2 instead of original/metal 2.5 amp restriction. All that means is they're more well suited to vaping low resistance attys and cartos, such as the dual coils. Right now they are available at crystalclearvaping, and perhaps a few other vendors.
Safe Vaping Power Chart
This chart shows you what ohm/resistance cartos and attys are appropriate, safe, and satisfying at what voltage ranges. I suggest your right click and save the chart to your hard drive, so you can zoom in and see the different figures whenever you need it.
And once you have a working knowledge of basic vaping math, this review, by PBusardo, is ideal to explain how your original or metal lava tube actually works. There are charts and graphs that explain why you're not actually getting a 5.5volt vape on a 1.5ohm dual coil carto, even if that's the voltage displayed on your screen. The 2.5 amp restriction prevents you from vaping at a voltage that would destroy your attys and cartos. * The limits of the new 1.5v lavatube are completely different. You actually CAN vape a 1.5ohm dual coil carto at 5.4 or 5.5 volts if you have it set that high. You'll fry your gear if you do, though. Remember to check the chart to make sure your voltage is appropriate to your hardware, or you may quickly fry through some of your attys and cartos.
