Here's a trick you might want to try.
sometimes I had leaks from base to, depending on your wire wrap around center pin and then tightening in its base I found that the wire sometimes would deformed o-ring causing it to leak. I resolve this by using two washers 1-stainless & 1-fiber washer as a insulator this gives the o-ring a flat Surface to support against and prevents it from deforming,
I also found the pin seems to Center itself without having to make adjustments. I've been using this set up now and have never had a leak from base

Parts Home Depot under 3 dollars
Hardware section stainless washers are on the wall
Fiber washers are in the gray pullout specialty drawers
They come in designations of a, b, c, e,
Make sure you get the one that says 23 – C
Look at pic I posted above.
