My Journey From Smoker to Vaper

I started smoking when I was 14. Back then it was what the "cool kids" were doing. The first time I made a conscious "effort" to quit was when I was 18. There have been many other tries since then, but I have to admit that each time was more miserable than the last. If there was a method out there, I think I have tried it... Here's the rundown (and my personal opinions of each):

  • Cold Turkey - Yeah, ummmm... 20 pounds gained and still wanting to smoke every day for months on end.
  • The Patch - I just want to know what they put in that glue.. My skin seemed to think it was poison ivy - oh and I still wanted a cigarette
  • Zyban - Felt like a constant state of glassy-eyed zombification... Oh yeah, and I still wanted to smoke.
  • Acupuncture - Yeah, no... What a waste of time and money.
  • Chantix - Constant nausea, all in all felt like crap - still wanted to smoke.
  • Gum/Lozenges -Gave them a fair shot, neither helped me in the slightest.
Then it dawned on me... The truth of it is, I actually liked smoking! What I didn't like, was all of the extra crap in cigarettes. Am I a nicotine addict? Absolutely, but I am okay with that. :)

Then one day at work, I saw a co-worker outside puffing on what looked like a pen with a funny little blue light at the end. I struck up a conversation, and got my first "lesson" on vaping. After a couple of drags, I was determined to find my very own "e-cig". I smoked and vaped for a week or so, and just never ended up buying more cigarettes.

Now it seems my favorite activities are ordering new juices to try and stalking my mail carrier to see if she has my latest order in her bag.

The funny thing is, that as much as I have ordered (PV's, juices, accessories) over the last month, I have still spent less than I did on analogs. Boggles the mind....
