Quitting an addiction is very diffucult. Becoming a V4Lifer is not quitting. Quitting is hard and it sucks even harder. Becoming a V4Lifer is easy and it feels wonderful.
I am 39 years old and started smoking when I was 13. Just wanted to hang with the cool kids. I smoked Marlboro red about a pack a day. Parents both smoked and dad died after a heart attack in his late 40's. (Years ago, I'm fine now, thanks ;-) )
Approaching my 40's I made another New Year's resolution to quit... meh, not so much buddy. I had heard of an electronic cigarette some months earlier (by someone who had only seen it and asked about it) and it was said to be over $100 and that alone let me put the idea out of my mind. Fast forward to income tax refund check time and I now had the funds to check into it and 4 hrs online research later I placed an order. I had a half-day off from work and if I didn't pull the trigger right then it would be another week or so before I devoted more time to it, plus.. anyone else have this problem where money burns holes in your good clothes?
In that short time I learned that I did not want a 3-pc, and I did not want a white battery with tan cartridge and 'e-fire' LED. If I'm not smoking please let it look like a light sabre or a magic wand or something. Star Wars, Harry Potter fans... anyone? I got a cartomizer based e-cig from an overseas company and exercised the custom skin option (add 3 days to delivery time) and expected 10-14 days for delivery. Their site claimed 1-cartridge equaled 2 packs of cigarettes. So, eventhough it was a lot of money ( no savings over analogs ) I'd pay more to be healthier and cleaner etc...
With considerable investment, growing anticipation, and an eternity to wait I went online to continue my research and found ECF and then the 6 part "Guide to vaping" by DonDaBoomVape. My forum lurking was quite leisurly as there was nolonger a burning sensation eminating from my wallet and I was able to learn alot. Like where to find people content with their vaping experience. The V4L sub-forum is the mostest.
The pricing made it possible for me to make a small order and start vaping before I ever laid eyes on my pricey imported e-cig. I had hoped that my import was a re-branded KR8, but no such luck.
I received my first order from V4L on Feb 24 and haven't smoked an analog since St Patricks Day. (Oh c'mon... like you've never had too much to drink and done something that perhaps a sober version of yourself would never do! ;-) )
I find that 24mg keeps me from craving and I vape less than I would smoke. Cartos last more than a day. 24 is too strong for my mornings ( I use 11 or less ) and is also too strong for some flavors. ( 24 DocPepper, can't vape it. 24 Watermelon, mmmmm.. tasty )
YMMV
I use auto batts, I like holding them like a pen and a manual would need to be oriented in my hand for each draw.
I find that XL batteries allow me to mouth inhale as I did with analogs and I don't miss anything. With standard batts and shorties I have learned to direct inhale to get the throat hit and vapor I would expect. With direct inhale, throat irritation is much more severe than mouth inhale. IMHO
These are my experiences and I share them here in the hope that someone will benefit from it.
Thanks to my V4L family, papa Smilin, auntie Val, uncle Leaford, Wade, Christine and anyone else I haven't mentioned by name, the ECF and its' very knowledgeable members. From the bottom of my heart - Thank You!!
