My Venture Back Into E-Cigarettes

Background info

First off, some background information on me.

In 2008-2009 I was a pack - 2 pack a day smoker for 3 years before I found electronic cigarettes on reddit or something like it, I'm not sure, might've been digg. At the time I was living at home with non smokers so it was getting really annoying having to go outside and I had also developed leukoplakia (white spots) on my tongue after a trip to the dentist. I decided it was time to give it up and do something else. I ordered the DSE901 kit and after that went to mods and got myself a GGTS. All was well for about a year then major cigarette cravings took hold of me again, and I switched to snus.

I ended up using snus long term and gave up e-cigarettes. Then the PACT act hit and drove snus prices considerably higher, and I had to be around for the UPS man to sign for it. I switched to dip, it was easier to get at my local tobacco shop. This quickly turned into a can and a half a day (Grizzly wintergreen or stoker's tubs) habit.

Fast forward to today

Well, it all started when I was watching CBS news about kids using electronic cigarettes.

Funny enough, I was having really bad cigarette cravings again and dip wasn't quite scratching the itch completely. It was also wreaking havoc on my gum line and making me spit constantly. I thought hmm well I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone, get that smoking feeling again and stop using so much dip.

A lot has changed

Back when I started using e-cigarettes, there wasn't any rebuildable atomizers or vv/vw devices. These things are awesome. There also wasn't anything all that great coming out of china so costs for a decent vape were quite insane. Now there is.

I discovered fasttech, and since I wasn't really in a rush to quit dip or anything I didn't care if it would take awhile. My most used setup right now is an iTaste SVD with a protank, but I have a good working IGO-L setup as well that I use on a clone Chi You.

I got multiple atomizers, multiple mods, batteries, charger, tons of e-liquid for the price I would've paid for about 1 mod back in the day. Pretty awesome.

My "Quitting" experience so far

The first day of using e-cigarettes was weird. I was using 24mg nicotine juice and I didn't really have a problem with it, but it felt weird, like something was off. After a few days this mellowed out and I didn't have any issues. I stopped dipping 24/7 right after my first puff, I would only use dip at night before bed.

I've been using e-cigs for about 18 days now. My results? I'm using about 1 can of dip per week. When I run out I intend to buy General Snus from the tobacco store down the street. This is much less nicotine than the dip and causes much less mouth issues.

On the cigarette craving front, it seems to have taken care of that. So my intended goal with e-cigarettes seems to be working out rather nicely.

Now if only I could quit nicotine 100%, that would be awesome. While I'm addicted though, at least I'm practicing harm reduction and having fun messing with e-cigarettes. :)
