Here is how i prep. I take a LOT of inspiration from ultra light back packers.
My bug oug bag before adding food abd fuel is only 13 pounds. I have knife, sleeping bag water filter spare clithes entire cook kit with alcohol stove, and complete survival kit, sighting compass so i can go back to buried caches of food and fuel by taking cross bearing of two Mountain peaks north of Tucson.
My entire cook kit only weighs 7 ounces. That 7 ounces includes 550 ml Titanium cup with stuff sack, Cigarette lighter. Ferro rod, alcohol stove, and aluminum windscreen to protect the flames from being affected by the wind.
My alcohol stove was designed bh YouTuber MatoNupai..
I have 3,+ weeks of food in the house, and about ,,4 months of food in assorted buried caches around THR Catalina foothills north of Tucson, AZ.
Just remember. The more you know = the less gear you have to carry on your back.
I have the Sawyee Mini watee filter. It weighs 2.4 ounces and can filter 99.9999% of bscteria. Cysts, and protozoa, and filter 100,000 gallons of water. Filter 1 gallon of water a dah and that is only 293 year supply of water. And can be back flushed in the field.
Some of those ultra light backpackers packs are as light as 7-8 pounds.
If you plan carefully you will be amazed how light yoy can really go and still be comfortable.
Don't think tent. Think Hammock and nylon tarp. That one thing took ,4 pounds off your back, gets you OCC the ground away from snakes, and pests, and gives you a more comfortable sleep
Prepping is all about planning what you need, selecting multipurpose items, and thinking outside the box.
