Review of VapourArt's GP PAPS X

First, many of you know how much I favor VapourArt's GP line of devices. I quickly became a fan when I held my first GP PAPS, from then on the rest was history.
I quickly learned as much as I could learn doing my homework on many threads, forums, getting to know my good friend Perseas and the crew on the GP thread - Thanks guys and girls!

VapourArt started their road to success with little and has become one of the most sought after vendors with big heart. From service to sales to after care is second to none. Many try but few succeed. It is hard to match their true love for the people and creating masterpieces.

I am here today to talk about their latest creation, the GP PAPS X a 23 mm personal vaporizer created from EU certified 316 stainless steel. The PAPS X(e
Xtensions) was very well thought out prior to going into production. Perseas and George talk about the brainstorming they do for months or longer and the planning that takes place when an idea comes to them. It may take a year or more to produce. The PAPS X is a direct dissent of the popular GP Piccolo.
All of the GP devices are connected to each other in production and move forward together with time and space, displaying a rich history through future builds.

Upon arrival to my doorstep from DHL within 3 days of my order I was already excited from the teaser pictures from Perseas. I opened the package and was taken back immediately by the clean machine work. I disassembled the X to discover all the parts and inspect it from inside to outside.
I am in awe at this point as every bit of it looks and feels smooth. I like to describe the finish as being very silky and soft in the hand. The exterior tubes of the X are hand polished individually.
One of the first areas I look over is the inside of tubes and to no disappointment the inside tube was beautiful. Many builders do not care how the inside looks as they figure no one sees it anyway. This is never the case with any of Team GP's creations but, especially the X.

I moved on to assembling and disassembling the threaded tubes. Wow, the only way I can describe the threading is that they have a smooth hydraulic feel. The threads are dry as a bone yet it the tolerance of the threads and the weight of the sections make it feel like they are oiled in 30wt oil, buttery smooth and the best on the market.

I then checked out the bottom fire button and if you are familiar with the beloved PAPS 2.5 switch you will absolutely love this switch. It is incredible, as pressed anywhere on the button it will smoothly fire the device with no sound, no hesitation and no issues. The button will smoothly rotate counterclockwise to lock the device. The switch, when disassembled will expose a brass spring and there are three to choose from in the package. I think mine was delivered with the medium spring and there is a soft and a more firm spring to satisfy any vapors needs. All three springs and the precision work on the switch allow the mod to stand on it's own without firing!

The interior of the button will also expose 2 hidden vent holes that exit in the tiny exterior button gap also hidden out of site. The silver post connections are worth checking out and I feel it thoughtfully completes the X set up. George and Perseas decided to not place an insulator in the X and recommend all users to use AW IMR batteries as the switch was designed around the battery. If chosen other batteries may be used and the simple remedy to protect from shorts is located here GP Series by VapourArt - Advance Notifications, Tips & Tricks & Updates Thread.

The bottom tube section that houses the switch also proudly displays a new GP logo that is shiny, smooth and gorgeous. Serial numbers are clearly stamped on the opposite side of the logo. The logo tells the story of the entire device as it is well machined with dimension and no easy task for any cnc machinist to create. The throw on the button is incredible. The throw is so smooth one has to learn to feel when pressing the button. Impressive!

Straight to the top of the device I went, inspecting the atomizer perch and polished adjustable airflow ring. The adjustable airflow ring is nicely threaded and covered 4 perfectly tiny machined air holes that I as well as many decided was plenty sufficient. Although, some users preference showed they wanted a bit more air so Team GP replaced the 221 already delivered units with new pieces with 8 beautiful holes for no charge to the consumer. That is the only way George an Perseas knows how to satisfy their family of owners. With great customer service.
Responding to customers feedback, Team GP decided to machine a polished and brushed ring to cover the air holes for use with atomizers with air holes, that showed no gap at all having them readily available for use.

As many know the GP line is accommodating to battery manufacturers that vary from .01 + in production of the same size battery. GP allows pin adjustment optimum connection for maximum conductivity and to alleviate any sort of battery rattle. Yet, these telescoping pins are special, matching the fire button is 0.015 mm silver coated brass. Perseas and George are aware that silver is the best conductor we can ask for and that is why it was chosen.
Although silver needs to be eyed for oxidants and wiped, Silver oxidants are conductive as brass and others that oxidize are not.

The X is a very generous device allowing the use of 18350,18490,18650 and comes with an extra thin telescopic center post 2.6 for use with a Kick if desired!
It took me almost 10 days changing batteries, tubes, atomizers and looking it over give a true review and then another 15 days to use as if it were my only device. BUT, It only took me a few minutes to fall in love with it.

Thank you Idaholandho for a great review, your passion and honesty are well appreciated...

Idaholandho, beautifully you described the story of a team of GP, their products and their latest product. :)
GP PAPS X, is perfection in every way. :)
However forgive me, but by its beauty can not be expressed in words. :)

This is a very well written testimonial that illustrates as much about the Mod as its owners. A common theme I've noticed even among folks who use and collect high-end mechanicals is a GP Paps in their rotation, the threading alone makes these mods universal but every once in a while you will run into a company only to discover they simply compete with themselves while raising the bar for everyone else -- VapourArt's GP Family of products

Reading this Blog entry makes me want to purchase a GP Paps X which is interesting because I already own one. The biggest thing that I took away from my X purchase was that it led me to explore the rest of the GP line of products, each with their own distinct qualities. Call me greedy but I would look forward to reading future Blog entries from Idaholandho for every Paps and Piccolo, in addition to the amazing delivery devices like the GP SnP tank & GP Spheroid.
