Slowly Expanding My Repertoire

Having fallen quickly out of love with the stock silica wicks, I am happy to have found a DIY method with the cheesecloth trick. This has given me both the courage and motivation to venture into a few other areas previously outside my comfort zone. Who knows, eventually I might work myself up to full rebuildables!

The first foray involves no more than sourcing online suppliers for new flavors, something I have been extremely hesitant on thus far. The reasons why: 1) The cost involved. You gotta admit, some of these sites are pretty damned expensive. 2) Unlike the local "vapor bars," you have no chance to sample your selections before purchase. 3) You have no idea who you're buying from, and have no real way of holding them accountable for inferior product.

That being said, I have found that I am not really liking any of the options available locally. My husband has inherited two of my purchases, the other half-dozen are sitting forlornly on a shelf. And myself, I have found only one flavor each at the two brick-and-mortar locations I trust. So I figure, why the hell not? What have I got to lose?

Having placed my first order today, I'm actually kinda excited! I decided to go with vape Dudes, as I have found no negative feedback on the forum regarding their site or product, not to mention they're local boys. Go Texas!

My sampler includes:
Black Honey
No-Bake Cake
Red Hot
Strawberry Honey
Sweet Tart
Thinner Mint

Yeah, so I obviously suffer from a bit of the ole' sweet tooth!

The second venture involves rebuilding atomizer heads for my tanks, and though I have my first test subject (a casualty from working with re-wicking), I'm going to take some time and make sure I'm 100% solid on the basics, especially from a safety standpoint.

There's a decent quality multi-meter sitting out in the garage, as the hubby does all of our motorcycle maintence and modifications, as well as some of the other basic tools of the trade. I think I'm going to try both the drill bit method, and maybe look into some machine screws... We'll see.

And I just received - and am loving - my little Innokin iTaste VV 3.0.

Still on order - 100 feet each of Kanthal A-1 28 awg, 30 awg and 32 awg.

And though I'm going to start out with a very basic rebuild, the micro-coil phenomenon has definitely piqued my interest. Sub-ohms, though, sound pretty damned scary. Not so much my cup of tea.

But what really, truly excites me about all of this - hunting down some tastier flavors, finding my wick of preference, delving into the wide world of custom coils - is that pretty much everyone raves on about how so very much all of this enhances their vaping experience.

Looking forward to a whole new dimension!
