The following was a post I made about switching to vaping cold turkey. That is, quitting smoking by switching to vaping from your PV, and not smoking at all. Here is my advice/experiences:
As far as quitting smoking with vaping... I've done it 3 times now, NO cigarettes. As soon as I picked up my PV, I stopped smoking.. I smoked very strong home-made cigarettes with very strong tobacco and I never felt a true nicotine withdrawal in the 3 times I've quit using e-cigarettes. So, in my personal opinion, the "withdrawal" is in a lot of people's heads. Especially if they are using a high nicotine juice. At 24mg, nicotine juice can and will deliver the average pack a day smoker MORE nicotine to their central nervous system than they received smoking regular cigarettes. At 18mg, if your vaping as frequently as you smoked, with a sessions lasting a bit longer than the average 100 cigarette would last, then you are taking in around the same amount of nicotine as you were when smoking cigarettes.
I can agree with what I've written above. I've always started with 16 to 18mg juice the day that I've quit smoking cigarettes. This last time (the LAST time I will have to make the switch) I have moved down to 11/12mg juice in the weeks after quitting, and I have been using 11/12mg juices ever since with great satisfaction. I will probably stay here, but someday I may go to 0mg juice because I believe nicotine prematurely ages the brain and the body and it may excel the rate at which pre-existing tumors grow within the body. So, someday I may switch to 0mg juices but for now, I am VERY happy with 12mg juices. I think a lot of it is in our heads when we 1st quit. We are more addicted to the smell of the smoke and the feel of the drag and maybe the taste and feel of the cigarette than we are missing the nicotine, because it is my belief that vaping can directly replicate a cigarette in the area of nicotine administration.
You can vape on your PV until the point of nicotine sickness when your having a craving for a cigarette. At that point, if you picked up a cigarette, lit it and smoked it, you'd become more sick. When I vape, I can totally rule out smoking a cigarette because the nicotine satisfies me fully from vaping from my PV and the flavors are fantastic. There are WTA juices that accelerate the rate at which the nicotine in the e-juice is absorbed, just like the alkaloids in the cigarette would, and the WTA juices also contain any other physically addictive alkaloids within cigarettes, but, it is my belief that these WTA juices are more of a gimmicky comfort product than something that a new vaporer would truly NEED to quit cigarettes and switch to vaping. Like I said, I have quit cigarettes cold turkey with vaping 3 times. The ONLY time I thought I was withdrawing from nicotine, was the 1st time. And the reason I thought I was withdrawing, was actually because I was vaping along with smoking, and OVERDOSING myself on nicotine. You see, nicotine overdose and nicotine withdrawal share many of the same symptoms and can be mistaken for one another. Its very common for someone whos quit smoking with vaping, to think they are experiencing nicotine withdrawal, when in fact they are now overdosing on nicotine by using 18, 24, or 36mg juices much too often (giving them more nicotine than cigarettes would) Don't believe that? Google "Nicotine withdrawal overdose similarities" and you will see for yourself that it is a common occurrence when using nicotine replacement therapy as well.
So thats what I've got and I'm sticking to it guys.
