The Atomo Clone

Initially, the tracking number I received from 101Vape regarding my purchase of the (undisclosed manufacturer) Atomo clone said it would arrive Saturday. I got it a day early, which thrilled me (though the postman took his sweet time getting it to my home). 101Vape is always lightning fast with their shipping, and it's much appreciated.

The mod itself is beautiful. Three tubes for each of the usual 18xxx batteries. Very fine threading. Polished stainless but not what I would consider heavy (my hcigar Sentinel M16 clone, also from 101Vape, weighs a ton in comparison), though it is a ridiculously strong fingerprint magnet for my oily fingers. However, it matches the look of my Boge Kayfun Lite Plus clone from SureVapes, and that's one reason I wanted it. The switch is magnetic with a surprisingly short throw (what I would definitely call a hair trigger), but it's able to stand on a flat surface without firing due to the recessed button. Good thing because, as expected, there is no locking ring. Also nice is, once fully locked down there is zero rattle from the switch or battery. Very solid and well made.

The underside of the top cap has a knurled screw for adjusting for battery length, as advertised. And it pumps out the power as well or perhaps better than my M16 - it may have been the newly charged battery but I swear the initial flavor was noticeably more intense than on the M16, and after several hours vaping steadily I detect no obvious voltage drop.

At first I was sad to see there was no secondary knurled screw for the 510 connection adjustment, and I started this section with 'Unfortunately...' - but on closer inspection I discovered that there is a secondary screw there for adjusting the 510, it's just not knurled like the other clones in the videos I watched on youtube. So yes, the Atomo is definitely adjustable for both battery size and 510 connection, which really pleased me as my KFL has a very long 510 connector and I really wanted to see it sit flush on a mech. The diameter of the Atomo is probably 1/8 of a millimeter smaller than my KFL, but it's hardly noticeable.

Another ECF member wanted to know if he could use this mech with toppers that required airflow through the 510 connection, so I put my Protank2 on the Atomo to see if there might be enough gap to do that with the 510 adjustment all the way in. No way, not even close. The PT2 went straight on flush all the way and just barely made it to the pin. No draw whatsoever. Just too short to work on this mod. A 510-to-510 extension adapter would probably do the trick if it had its own airflow channels, though. Sorry buddy, but you may want to check out the M16 instead - I've had my PT2's on there with no problems. Also fitting completely flush (with the connection screw all the way in) was my EHPro Nimbus clone from Madvapes (which looked pretty awesome on the Atomo, I must say).

All in all I would say this is a very good buy and I'm extremely happy with it. The Atomo clone from 101Vape was a fantastic bargain at their sale price of $18.99 US - the usual price is listed as $34.99, which is still not bad IMO, though I admit that the very low price was the main selling point for me, besides being able to finally flush-mount my KFL; and as I said in my previous blog, not just for asthetics , but also for the stability. All three tubes come in a lovely black box with fancy gold lettering that says Atomo on it, and the engraving on the mod itself is deep and well done, even the logo on the switch. They're still on sale as I write this so if you're thinking of adding another shiny to your collection, I'd say grab it.
