The Stardust center post is no longer centered "OR" the tube is leaking fix.

This is for V3 units but may loosely apply for earlier versions also...

Found that after the unit got torqued a bit, in my pocket, I noticed that the center post
was no longer lining up nicely with the drip tip. I discovered that replacing the tube
was the remedy for this but on further inspection of the "problem" tube I observed
an uneven gap at the base of the tube, between the metal ring and the indent in the polycarbonate tube. (tube only, not the knurled base)

I had retired 2 tubes due to the off-center post and some leaking around the base of the tube. So I grabbed them both and on a hard flat surface I pressed down firmly,
pushing down from the top of the tube. With a little effort one "clicked" back into place while the second one did not click.

They are now both centered around the post and neither of them leak any more.

Glad I didn't just pitch them in the trash the first sign of trouble.

Now I've got more good back-ups than I thought I had.

Got an old tube that leaked or was "crooked"?
Give it a try!:vapor::vapor:

Hi there,

Dumb question... but how did you notice the problem in the first place? I've got 2 stardust about 2 weeks old each. Both started leaking quite a bit after a recent refil. There were sitting on my desk and when I picked them up, there was a ton of juice sitting under them that had come out the bottom somewhere. There were not overfilled so my first assumption was that I had over tightened them and broken a seal somewhere. Does this sound like the same thing?

Hello GaryParr, I've found "the puddle" under my stardusts once or twice in the past myself.

The V3 versions are the easiest ones to work with, these are the ones I'm referring to,
and using.

The cause('s) for me was either the tube had pulled up a bit on one side as described
by the fix in the above blog post(you'll notice the drip tip doesn't align with the center post perfectly) or...

The rubber cap that sits atop the coil/wick post was not pushed down enough to make
a good seal around the wick. Fluffing the wick in that area and pushing the rubber boot
down on the post as tight as it can go fixed it for me.

There is a little more detail in the first blog post on that. I've also noticed that on occasion(once or twice), when unscrewing the tip to refill, the head will also unscrew a little. Thus requiring me to take the unit right apart(the head off of the post too),
dry everything off and re-assemble before refilling.

If however you happen to not be using the V3's with the replaceable heads, the fixes
are more difficult as any version other than the V3 are tougher to take apart and fix.

Hope this helps
