The Vuse

I'm not quite sure what the mass-market status is of the Vuse "Digital Vapor" system from RJR, but I live in Colorado Springs and they're selling them at a 7/11 near my college.

For all the hype, this device is really sub-par. For around 10 bucks, I got a kit that came with one carto, one battery, and a USB recharger. 10 bucks is pretty good value for money for a rechargeable battery, but that's about the only positive I can see with this device. Oh, and the feature of the battery turning red when it is approaching low charge is kind of nice as well.

The flavor of both the menthol and the regular cartos is awful. It has this strange chemical additive taste that is unlike anything I've ever tried before. The claims of consistency and superiority are bunk. I hardly got a consistent vape, only vary rarely would I get a draw that was satisfying.

I had trouble switching cartos to menthol, as the product would randomly blink red with a menthol cartridge and lock up. This wasn't a battery issue, I think it has something to do with the "smart-memory" feature built into the cartos. Taking one of them apart was freaky, I've not seen a design similar to this in any other carto I've taken apart. There's a little microchip inside of the carto! That was kind of terrifying to see, although a search on YouTube revealed a demo reel that kind of explains it's purpose.

I don't think that I could really recommend this product to anyone at this stage, even though it might be tweaked on it's way to mass-market release.
