Thoughts On Leaks and Gurgling Issues, Not Related to Zombie Issues

Leaks and gurgling seem to be two of the more popular complaints recently. I have also experienced these issues, with both top and bottom coil atomizers.

For bottom coils one main issue is heat and the atomizers working on a vacuum. If the tank gets hot, the air expands and pushes liquid through the coil out of the bottom hole, the path of least resistance and gravity. Keeping the tank cool is the best remedy, inverting the tank, so this expanding air can escape is the best method of preventing this type of leaking for me. The other issues would be the wicks are not tight enough to resist the liquid moving through the wicks and liquid being too thin and the force of gravity pushing the liquid through the wicks.

Top coils seem to suffer from condensation seeping back through the coil. Read below for more thoughts on this problem.

One thing that isn't usually considered is the build up of condensation inside the air tube from the coil to the mouthpiece. If a user stops drawing and leaves vapor in the air tube, the condensation will collect quickly and can run down through the "chimney", as some say, and flood the coil or leak into the battery connection. Keeping cotton swabs on hand and using these to soak up the excess condensation from time to time will eliminate this type of gurgling and leaking. Also do this when refilling the atomizer and dry around the chimney before re-assembling.
