So you're sold on the idea of going to electronic cigarettes, but you aren't sure where to go or what to do or what (or who) to buy from. Which is why Vape Research is your friend. There is one thing that every smoker and former smoker has in common, we are all impulsive as all hell.
So the first thing you want to do before you make your first purchase is take a step back and think to yourself "Before I hit the checkout button" or "Before I let this guy ring me up, Let me take a step back, get on my handy dandy smart phone and research the price and reviews of this particular product".
And here is why you are doing this, you want to make sure you aren't being absolutely ripped off, and you want to make sure that the product you are buying is not a giant hunk of crap.
B&M owner's that are quality people won't give a rats ... if you choose a few devices, and before you make the purchase you go sit on their comfy couch (that seldom anyone sits on, ever notice that?) and research what you are about to spend your hard earned money on.
There are so many options for new vapers out there every day that sometimes I can't even keep up (and it's sorta my job to), so for me to expect a novice to do better than me is a stretch.
For a new vaper, I would always recommend looking up local ecig shops in your area, maybe even checking their reviews on yelp and or giving them a call before you come in.
Pricing is and will always be a tad bit lower online, but with B&M shops you know that the person selling you something is looking at you in the eyes when he/she says "this is an authentic product, or a quality product", and to me that makes a big difference and is worth the extra 5-10 bucks I was going to save online.
Speaking of online, price check everything. I know i've said this several times, but reputability and cost are the most important, not impulse purchasing. That Ego T starter kit you thought about buying for $80.00 you could have easily have gotten for half of that.
And while we're on the subject of starter kits, let's get this out of the way right now, the rule of thumb has always been If you want it to feel the way you want, don't expect it to look how you want. And what this means is, just because you are used to a tiny cigarette between your fingers, doesn't mean that an e cig that size is the best option for you. Sure, there are e cigarettes out there nowadays that will in fact pump out a lot of vaper production, But the batteries will die within 4-5 hours and we both know you'll likely forget to charge your backup battery one day, and guess what happens when both your ecigs batteries are dead? are you going to go buy another one for $30.00 at a B&M or wait for another one to come in the mail from an online order? or go spend a few bucks on a pack of cigarettes?
Typically speaking, the best ecigs out there that perform the best and have the best taste and longest lasting batteries look nothing like a cigarette, and eventually over time you won't want it to look like a cigarette.
After all, why would you want this healthier habit to look like your previously deadly habit?
