Very First Vape

June 06, 2011 - 9:30 am - My very first vape.

I woke up at 8:44am and groaned. I knew my first PV was going to be delivered today, but the mail man normally isn't here until 11am or later. After a weekend of anticipation, I really did not want to be up this early pacing the floor. By the time I actually left the bed at 9, the dogs were already in a frenzy at the front door. He's never come this early! EVER! He did today, though!

I now live with my non-smoking parents, 7 cats, a hound-dog/pitbull mix, and a mini-pinscher that bosses all the preceding entities around. I'm divorced and disabled following a 25+ year nursing career. They are retired and aging. We look out for each other. Since my parents have always been a lot of fun, and seem very happy to have at least one child back home, it works out well for all of us. My kids don't have to worry about me being alone and my sister doesn't have to worry about our parents because I'm here. The only problem, until now, is that I am a chain smoker and they are non-smokers. I stay in my bedroom so I can smoke. They prefer to have me downstairs with them. You can see where this is heading...

The package was finally here! My folks and the two dogs followed me through the house as I rushed around plugging things in, unwrapping carts and atomizers, and assembling the bottles of e-liquid that had arrived several days before. None of us had even had our coffee yet, much less breakfast. I ran upstairs for one final quick review of the Doctor Vapor how-to videos, now that I had cartos, attys, and carts right in my paws to refer to. By 9:30, I had the eGo PT plugged up in the living-room, an atty on, drip tip in place and bottle of Arctic Menthol juice at the ready.

My impressions? As predicted, the first few hits were nasty while the manufacturing crap burned off. I quickly determined that I didn't care for dripping. I withheld judgement on the Arctic Menthol juice. At the moment, I don't care for it but I know my tastes will change and the juice will age more. I will come back to it. I went to the carts next. That was a little better, but not by much. They seemed to go dry way quicker than I anticipated that they would. I am already very familiar with that burnt taste. After trying dripping, using the carts, and not really caring much for the first juice I tried, I was getting worried that I may have blown my money on something that was not going to work for me.

The 510 cartomizers to the rescue! Oooh, I came so very close to not ordering cartos! I considered it an impulse buy when I added it to my shopping cart. Thank my guardian spirits that I did! As soon as I hit a carto, I knew that was what I had been hoping for. Just a few little adjustments of e-liquid along the way, and I can be very happy with the cartos.

My folks were thrilled. They couldn't smell a thing. I was able to help my dad with his morning crossword puzzle during breakfast. The big dog seems to think it's a medical device or something and keeps looking at me with a deeply furrowed brow. She's such a worry wart. She'll get used to seeing it.

I do want to increase my TH, though. I see more research in my immediate future...

Happy for you! This is an obsessive hobby, though. I think that's the thing that suprised me the most. I have food allergies and the flavors are absolutely wonderful for me- I can't eat hardly anything I want, so vaping takes me there! Hope the big dog relaxes soon.

I'm really happy that vaping will work for you, it's always great to hear a success story especially when it not only benefits yourself but the others around you as well.

Good luck!

Thank you both, 36tinybells and Mr Jones!

I'm already planning for a mod, so the obsession is kicking in already, 36tb! Gretchen is still worried and a little nervous. She tries to get between my grandson and me when I have the PV. She's such a mother hen! Her nickname isn't "Chicken Libbers" for nothing! LOL!

Mr Jones, there are 3 generations that are thrilled with this change. I am going to get one for one of my daughter-in-laws. She quit smoking but is suffering severe depression partly because of having quit. I once talked to a Dr. I worked with about smoking cessation and depression. He told me that he had had several patients that suffered such severe depression related to quitting that he considered their smoking to be the lesser of the two evils, after anti-depressant therapy and counseling failed to alleviate the depression. Now there is a third alternative! It's not always the nic that is difficult to let go of. Sometimes, as I believe is the case for me, it isn't the nic at all. It's the sensation and everything that goes with smoking. Vaping is a satisfying substitute, with or without the nic, for that part of the smoking habit.

Thank you both for the encouragement!

Yes, in the journey to get the best vape for your buck we all get a little obsesive... but is a nice hobby I have to say!!! I love it!
