When Bats become more important than the Mod

When Tom Buss made the "Kong" boxx, he advertised that it needed 2 - 26500 bats to make it work. I went to Dave from Supertmanufacturing and ordered them... at the time not knowing that they had not been made for months and may never be made again.

After 1 month of waiting, I wrote to Dave and he wrote back that they were telling him 3 weeks and now... unknown. He is going to refund my money.

I got the box from Tom and it is great. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes custom wood combined with VV and his "Artisan" of engraving skills.

I got it and went through the many bats I have bought in the past 2 years and found that 2 Trustfire 18500's work just fine.

But it got me to thinking (not often do I actually do that) that without a substitue, this could be a bad situation. Having a mod that cannot be powered.

My hope is that the mod Makers head the warning that you cannot depend on a specific bat.

Even Cisco with his "Helix" sent an insert to be able to use 2 Cr123a's instead of 1 26550 bat that is still being made. It is just nice to know that we do not have to be dependant on a bat that may not be made or cancelled.

This hobby has grown in the past 2 years. At the beginning we had to wait for just about everything. Now, we get things within 1 week, sometimes within days.

Since I intend to keep on supporting Modder's, I am just putting it out there to look at the bat and how the mod is being built around a particular 1 and ... always have a possible replacement.. just in case.
