after 2 years of being an "Accomplished" vaper.
I love to write and many times it is not the words that I am writing, but the picture the words make in your head. Blessed or cursed, I was born with a "Photographic" memory. Many people think that means that you are "Smart." Not so, at least not for me.
What I have been given is the ability to see my life and events that have occured in terms of "Pictures." The way most everyone can relate is when you are sleeping and have a dream that you remember. Your eyes are closed and what you are having is a "Photographic" memory of the dream. I live that whilst sleeping.. and also while awake. I have pictures in my mind that go back to when I was maybe 2 years old and being 50 now, that is a heck of a lot of picutures to have in 1 head!
Over the past 2 years, the most photos in my mind have been about "vaping."
I just got done watching Vapourtalk.TV on this "Labor Day" in the USA. It was Dave K's show and on it he had his 1st anniversary and showed how he started, what he used and took us through the progression to now, 1 year later.
When he showed all of the things that he had right from the start, I was a bit surprised. I started 1 year earlier then he did. When he said that he bought the SD MK2, that was where our pasts came into 1.
When I started, the "Only" Mod that I knew of was the SD. You could by it from TW as they were already in business, but most times it was sold out. The cost with the package was near $200. Even at that time, I thought it was expensive, but I still bought 2 and could only get them in "Black" as the solid Chrome or whatever metal is used was always sold out. I bought 1 directly from Trogg and 1 from TW. they had the "Mini" and the "Larger" (they did not call it like I did: I am doing my best to paint the picture). 1 took the 801 (Larger), the other the 901 (Mini). There was no 510 at this time. The item that is the "Staple" of todays vaping was not there 2 years ago. You could not buy them from a site at that time. Nor could you buy an adaptor. They were not there 2 years ago. Whatever you bought is the threading you used. Next came the "Puresmoker Prodigy" which was the 1st Mod I knew of that offered 5 volts of power, using a regulator on 2 three volt bats.
From that time until Dave K. got into vaping and was able to buy the "Riva,Ego..." and MK2.... it was almost like it is now. He was also able to by an "LR" atty which certainly was not there when I began in 7/09.
If I had my way, the picture that I am "Trying" to paint in your mind is just how fast the vaping "Universe" has become. I was not anywhere near the 1st person to vape and "Like it," and stop smoking as a direct result of "Loving" it. I was and am till this day, 1 of the first people in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area to become a vaper of all the people I know or knew. If they were my friend 2 years ago, they certainly became aware that I was a vaper and was broadcasting it.
What I had when I started was a fear that the "FDA" would take vaping off the market totally. I know that the USA cannot take untaxed and unregulated nicotine and.... everything I had done until then, 2 years ago, was unpopular and made illegal.
In a Federal Court, Judge Leon ruled that vaping is a "Tobacco" product due to the "Nicotine" which comes from "Tobacco," I was stunned. Could this be that vaping will be the 1st thing in my life I have done where I was there toward the beginning and would not be made illegal? The answer turned out to be "Yes." The FDA chose to give up there fight and give back all of the "Witheld" merchandise of many Vendors in the USA that came from China, the place where not only did this all begin, but still is the "Mecca" for mass distribution of vape items. The FDA chose rather than call it a "Drug administration item" or "Smoking Cessation" (stop, ala... gum, patch) item, to call it a "Tobacco" product which like the cig, is subject to taxation and managing the amount of nicotine goes into each and every product.
When the FDA 1st got involved, they showed a report that in testing 2 Companies items, there was 1% more of less, in 1 cart, that there was an item that is in "Antifreeze" in it.
This scared most of the public who were not vaping at the time. The big joke here is that cigs, which have always been legal, have the most chemicals that could kill anything due to the "Combustion" of having to light the tobacco in order to get the "Use." Vaping involves "Warming" up the water based PG/VG with nicotine (or not) and flavor. How is it possible that anything in this World can be worse than smoking cigs?
The resolve: I am more into vaping now that I was when I began and Dave's 1 year history got me feeling a bit like taking a "Walk through Memory Lane" of my life in vaping.
For those of you that read this, thank you and I wish you all the best of what this "Vaping" has to offer, so much more than when I came in. I also challenge you to look inside of yourself to see if the picture of you making a Mod and furthering this "Hobby" is there. If it is, make the picture into "Reality" by making a "Prototype." Don't give it away if it is that good, but carefully "Hook Up" with a reliable vendor and there are many. I was going to name a couple, but then it would slight the others... but through the pages of ECF, is the "Living History" of vaping. What happens today on paper, in writing... becomes tomorrow's history and just maybe, you're involvement in it.
