Why Super Market E-Cigs Don't Work For Me

Before getting to the good stuff, I'd like to first say, this is based on my experiences. I am not sure if this is in the correct spot on the forum, but, if it isn't please (mods) move it to the correct location.

It was the 13th of November in 2012 when I bought my very first E-Cigarette. I had been smoking cigarettes for roughly 2 to 3 years, and without a doubt, I was addicted.
I bought the E-Cig from a store known as Smoker Friendly. It's a North-East, possibly more, based tobacco shop in the states. I had heard a lot about them and even had a friend that used one. Now this friend, whom I no longer talk to, has serious heart and lung, to name a few, complications due strictly to the fact that he smokes 2 packs a day.

He allowed me a couple puffs on the E-Cig and, to be honest, it really tasted as if I was breathing in a gel, kinda like vapor rub. I decided I would buy one and the only place I found to actually sell them, somewhat cheap, was Smoker Friendly. I traveled over to the store and checked out their selection. Here is what they had:
Tobacco Flavor
Menthol Flavor

That is it. They had the above in several different devices, but only those two flavors. Now, when I say different devices, I don't mean tanks. They had the tobacco in the starter device and the starter kit. As well as the menthol in the starter device and the starter kit. I asked the cashier what she suggested I buy, seeing as it was my first time. She asked what kind I smoked and I told her menthol. She took out the menthol starter device and, with my approval, rang me up.

The total came out to be twenty five dollars. She assured me, upon asking, that the device would last an entire carton of cigarettes. I had to buy it, I mean, a carton of smokes cost me close to fifty dollars. That was a deal I could live with. I walked out of the store, opened up the package to find a tiny cigarette looking cylinder that had a hole in one end. I puffed on it like I would a cigarette and nothing happened. Well, I shouldn't say "nothing". A little cloud of smoke came out which tasted like Marlboro Smooths. Any one who is unfamiliar with this particular cigarette, it tastes like a very nasty peppermint patty. The only difference between the two was the nasty tobacco flavor. The E-Cig did not have it.

After taking a few hits off of it, I decided that the device was less effective because it was simply a starter device. You see, this device was a one time use, disposable, e-cigarette. There was no attachments, nothing screwed in or out. I went back to the shop and purchased a full starter kit. This cost, roughly, sixty dollars. It came with:
1 battery
1 usb charger
2 cartridges
+ a refill pack I bought which contained 3 more cartridges.

I charged the battery, hooked up one of the cartridges and puffed on it. The same exact amount of nasty flavor came out. Regardless, I kept smoking it. The thing did not last me a complete carton of cigarettes. In fact, it didn't even last me a pack. Here is a little math to explain this.

I smoked 100s. This is a slightly longer cigarette with a longer filter. Every cigarette I smoke, I usually hit it at least 20 to 25 times.
The E-Cig cartridge claims to last a carton of cigarettes, which now-a-days is clearly not true, but then was believed.
Each pack of cigarettes contain 20.
Each carton of cigarettes contain 10 packs.

(For the sake of this, I am using 20 puffs instead of 25.)

20 x 20 = 400
10 x 400 = 4000

Which shows that each carton of cigarettes I would buy, I'd take approximately 4000 puffs.
Each E-cig cartridge I used lasted roughly 250 puffs.

400 / 250 = 1.6
1.6 x 10 = 16

Which shows that for me to want a complete carton of cigarettes, I'd need to buy 16 cartridges.

When I'd buy the refill pack of 3 cart's, it'd cost me 15 dollars.

16 / 3 = 5 (rounded)
5 x 15 = 75

This shows that it would cost me 75 dollars to do what normally would cost me close to 50.

The reason I'm explaining this is because I keep seeing commercials for these cig-a-likes. Lets focus on the Vuse e-cig, which I have tried. The Vuse, although not as expensive, is almost a spitting image of this knock off SF (Smoker Friendly) E-Cig.
Little known fact, the company behind Vuse is "for" banning essentially all e-cig tanks and such, except their own style. They recently submitted a multiple paged document discussing why they feel this should be law. Some of which include (paraphrasing) things like tanks can contain illegal substances and also, my favorite line of all, "Whats stopping a child from picking one of these up."

Come on, seriously? Whats stopping a kidding from doing any type of illegal substance now a days? Nothing but their common sense.

Anyway, to conclude this blog, these type of e-cigs are not what helped me. A nice tank that I am able to fill with my own juice is what did. I am now 4 months clean. I love vaping and think that it shouldn't be shunned upon like it is.
